A very good hotel, but disappointing extra charges The Strand Hotel is probably the best hotel in Swakopmund, with a great location and very good service overall. However, our stay was overshadowed by an additional charge that felt opportunistic. I mistakenly booked our suite for one person rather than two. While I accept that this was my error, the extra charge of almost US$100 per night for the second guest felt excessive, particularly as we were already paying for a suite. It left a sour taste and detracted from an otherwise enjoyable stay. Breakfast was decent, but dinner was disappointing and overpriced. Overall, there is plenty to like about the hotel, especially its location and staff, but the additional occupancy charge and poor-value dinner made the experience less satisfying than it should have been.
