The guest cottage on the historic Turner Hall estate features expansive views over the North River, and is close to the Colonial Triangle of Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown. Situated on the grounds of one of the finest houses in historic Gloucester County, amenities include an outdoor pool (May through October), a private boat dock and over 500 meters of waterfront. This is an ideal getaway for a romantic weekend, for keen fishermen, for history buffs or just to enjoy the natural beauty of Ware Neck and Mobjack Bay .
The setting--with lawns and the North River before; farmland and forests behind--creates an ideal atmosphere for recreation and amusement, for contemplation and reflection, for building and renewing relationships, for taking stock, or for a simple pause in the daily routine. At this time, at this location, there is no high-speed internet, only a hotspot--so enjoy it while you can: step off the escalator and go in peace.
In the the first rays of morning light, you will see Homer's 'rosy-fingered dawn' giving promise for the day to come. You will watch the clouds forming and see the weather moving in over the water. Now and then you will see deer avidly consuming the foliage--sometimes the very flowers under your window; and once in a while, if you are lucky, you may see a vain, handsome, buck out on the lawns striking poses against the sky. The fish leap constantly in the basin. On all sides you will see rabbits, straight from Beatrix Potter, looking for fun and mischief, while our resident eagles peer down from the branches of a dead tree, looking for lunch. If you leave your oranges out to sweeten on the porch railing and forget them overnight, chances are a raccoon or some such relative will quietly help himself. And day or night, whenever the wind blows, the lazy old farm windmill moans and grumbles whether you like it or not.
For most people, the sum essence is a welcome change from normal daily life.
