"I had an excellent stay at the Sligachan Hotel. The hotel is steps away from breathtaking scenery for walking or hiking and a quick bus/car ride to Portree for shopping and dinner. Martin, the manager, was so helpful and kind. He drove my friend and I from Portree to our train because the bus schedule that day was not aligning well with our train schedule and morning activities. He also gave us great tips on the best things to do on the Isle of Skye and made sure that all of the guests were enjoying their stay. The breakfast was high quality - I loved the smoked salmon and eggs and the fresh fruits and yogurts. The receptionists were always friendly and helpful whenever we had any questions. I would recommend the Sligachan hotel to anyone who wants a comfortable stay right near the Cuillian Mountains and a quick commute to Portree."

"Incredibly serene and absolutely stunning property. seems like you are out in the middle of nowhere but quaint shops and wonderful restaurants are a 10 minute drive away. Gorgeous drive to walking trails. Hope to come back here one day. One of the best vacations of my life."

"There is nothing but amazing things to say about our dear Momma Jane. We stayed in the newly renovated suite. Every detail and amenity was perfect. Best bed we slept in in our two week trip. You instantly feel welcomed like family here. Jane spends her mornings preparing the most DELIGHTFUL food. She even impressed my chef husband. If you are on the fence, book this spot now. "We had the perfect holiday on Skye staying at The Backrest and would highly recommend it. The house was so comfortable and warm, and provided everything we needed - and more. My favorite was the chairs in the window, perfect for watching the changing weather and enjoying the stunning scenery. The house was spotlessly clean, and we found all of the furnishings to be of the highest standard.The location is stunning, and excellent for venturing out to the amazing destinations that Skye has to offer. It was also handy having the facilities at Dunvegan nearby for all of those forgotten bits and pieces.The Backrest is a great dog friendly house to stay in, from the space for all of his bits and pieces, to the extra biscuit treats left out for him. Having a fenced in garden was also perfect for our puppy as it meant he could have his own adventures safely, and he found lots of new smells to get familiar with.We had a fantastic week and hope to visit again. Thank you to Mette, Sonia, and the pups for sharing it with us."
