Staff were friendly and welcoming. The mattress on the bed was very poor and old, you could feel every spring through the sheets. Also the bathroom was over the kitchen and the smell of cooking breakfast woke us early even with the door shut. Not ideal.

Check-in was easy, despite being street-facing the room was very quiet. Perfect location & cutely decorated. Reduced stars for cleanliness - black stains all over the sheets and a moldy growth in the bathroom. The stairs and hall leading to the room were quite grungy as well.

The hotel was in a perfect location for us and a very good price. The beds were comfortable and the shower was good. We were able to store our bags before and after check out which was really good. The room we had was right next to reception and the kitchen and dining room, so there was quite a lot of noise in the mornings and with people arriving back at night.

Harrowing Halloween
A frankly awful stay which was shortened to one night and a swift move to another hotel. The tired décor, cobwebs and general grubbiness notwithstanding, the smell of the cooked breakfast which permeated seemingly every part of the building - but most of all the room I had - meant I had to escape early in the morning. There was a sign in the bathroom warning of potential smells that may 'interrupt' guest's sleep. The sign was not wrong. It was like a greasy alarm clock which went off at 6am, Sunday morning. To borrow a Glasgow word: hoachin'. It was absolutely hoaching with the aroma of the Scottish cooked breakfast, which I would normally enjoy on occasion, but I do prefer not to smell of it all day. I had to move, lest all my clothes become ensconced in the fragrant aromas and overshadow my entire stay, including a rather important meeting I had on Monday morning. A harrowing experience.

Need some better sound insulation between rooms. Noisy neighbours meant the worst night's sleep we've had in a hotel in years. Was looking to stay over christmas. Will look elsewhere now.

I can only comment on the basement room we stayed in, which smelled of damp and mildew and had mildew in the shower. The beds and pillows were hard. We heard the upstairs rooms are renovated and much nicer. No idea.

Great location, don't expect to park right there
Good location and spacious room for the price but I'd understood there was free hotel parking. There is no hotel parking and couldn't stop the car outside. Was advised to use free on-street parking a 12-minute walk away. Could be difficult to carry luggage that far, and in the dark when Botanical Gardens is closed the walk is a bit longer.

Good location in Glasgow’s west end. Room was fine with tall ceilings giving a sense of space and decent wifi. There wasn’t any water in the room but available in the breakfast room for people to help themselves. It would be useful if larger glasses or jugs were provided for guests to take water. Additionally there is no lift but staff were v helpful in carrying up my case for me. The room itself was fine, decent shower. Pipes were a little noisy (it’s an old building so expected) and I could smell breakfast cooking smells in my room in the morning. The room window needs some privacy net / sheer curtains. It’s overlooked so one has to draw curtains for privacy which isn’t great in the daytime

Disappointing
Hotel was basic and fine however parking was a nightmare. Arrived in the dark on a rainy night and parking was very difficult to find. I unfortunately developed vertigo and was unable to walk the 15 minutes to the parking lots that information was provided for. I stayed the first night and asked to cancel the next 2 nights due to the impossible parking situation and my physical condition. The hotel refused to refund any of the additional planned 2 nights. I was not able to stay there as it was physically impossible and did have to double book with another hotel for the other 2 nights. I was very disappointed that they would not work with me on this and offer any type of a refund for the nights I did not use. I would not recommend staying here unless you plan to walk 15 minutes to parking, frequently in the rain and possibly in the dark.

I would probably not stay here again. It was awful having to park so far away and on the street. The bathroom had issues. The shower sealant was permeated with black mould on the front of the shower, and the shower tiles had reddish scale and mould. Not extensive, but unacceptable for a hotel. Many of the bathroom floor tiles were cracked as well. Ran out of toilet paper. Breakfast charges are £12 on top of room costs. The hotel access is not particularly good, something to consider if you have a very large vehicle.

It was ok. The bedroom was quite small and the tartan didn't do anything for it. The shower and toiletries were good. On the downside there was no glass, just a mug. Breakfast was ok, but nothing to write home about. The receptionist was helpful.

Extremely dilapidated
Absolutely horrific room. Window was held up with a piece of 4x2, if that had been knocked out that could have broken an arm or worse. Bed was completely worn out, springs poking you through the sheets, shower was mouldy, tiles basically hanging off. USB sockets didn’t work. Upstairs room toilet waste pipe ran it seemed directly through the bathroom so you could hear very clearly every time the water flowed from the flushed toilet upstairs. Deep cracks in the walls and ceiling - wouldn’t take much for the plaster to fall off. Honestly one of the most dilapidated rooms I’ve ever seen. We pretty much immediately left and booked somewhere else. Couldn’t explain to the person on reception because they were on the phone being bossed around by someone, same as when we arrived. I would give this place a wide berth.

For a first time in Glasgow everything was excellent. The hotel was comfortable and didn't hear other guests or the traffic outside. It was colder than thought outside when I left in the morning because inside was comfortably warm. I got a good breakfast that set me up for the day.
