It offers something quite different than other hotels in Nevis. The staff were exceptionally helpful and caring. They also helped to make arrival easy by organizing a seamless transfer from the airport to the water taxi and then to the hotel. Up in the cooler rainforest on the side of Nevis Peak, it is a paradise of greenery and tranquility. The grounds are spectacular, the staff is friendly and welcoming, and extremely gracious, it feels like a private hideaway on a hillside with an absolutely, amazing restaurant to boot! We came for several quiet days after a stay at the Four Seasons, and it was the perfect counterpoint to a beautiful stay on Nevis. We had a very comfortable room with a nice patio on which we could sit and take in all the sights and sounds of nature. We even saw monkeys. It used to be a sugar plantation and still has the stonework, historical feel. The gardens are beautiful. The service was not great. I must say, Sara is awful. Luckily I was able to work with the general manager to book activities, such as the garden tour, and he was fantastic. There is not much to do either on the island generally or in the hotel itself, so I recommend no more than a 3 night stay. Words cannot describe how beautiful the property is. The restaurant, fish ponds, and courtyard are breathtaking. I couldn't help but take photos every time we walked through. The orchestra of birds during the day and crickets at night was mesmerizing. The garden tour is a must- our tour guide was amazing. From sharing ylang ylang and bay leaves with us to warning us of plants that can cause blindness, his wealth of information about not only the plants but the property and its history was incredible. The food was 5 star. Ivo, the general manager was so accommodating and pleasant. We had to leave a few days early because of a hurricane threat and he guided us through the process with genuine care and thoughtfulness. Our villa was simple and beautiful and the Le Labo toiletries were such an added bonus. No AC but overhead and ceiling fans did the trick. Front staff was super helpful and arranged taxis for us every day. The also arranged transportation to and from the airport in St. Kitts. Ambience was exquisite with garden and interior design to the nines. Our girls loved the secret nooks and crannies among the plants. The property itself is lovely and the views are breathtaking. The rooms are well appointed and have nice touches like espresso coffee (french press) in the rooms. There is an extensive garden and a small using fed pool. Staff were uniformly friendly and helpful. This is a quiet place to get away from everyday life. Parts of the estate were built in the early 1800s, but everything has been beautifully updated to showcase the style and architecture from the original plantation. The staff was very helpful in arranging transportation, providing a tour of the estate, and assisting when needed. We ate at the restaurant which was quite good.
