Das Schloss ist nicht nur Schauplatz der alljährig stattfindenden "Kaltenberger Ritterspiele" sonder auch wegen des hervorragenden Weißbieres, das in der schlosseigene "König Ludwig Schloss Brauerei" hergestellt wird, über die Landesgrenzen hinaus bekannt. Built by the Duke of Bavaria and Count Palatine of Rhine Rudolph I 1292, the castle is now owned by Prinz Luitpold of Bavaria. He is the great-grandson of the last Bavarian king Ludwig III and inhabited the castle. The castle is not only the scene of the each year held "Kaltenberger Ritterspiele".
