"The fjord view is stunning. That said, be mindful cruise ships port and thus your view will include a cruise ship and the thousands of people they bring in daily. Tours busses also drop off hundreds of people at this hotel and thus make dining and such incredibly hectic. Also note, the bar is open on the balcony which allows for loud drunk people through the night hours. The most peaceful part of our stay was between 2am - 6am. The staff is wonderful!"

Which area of Geiranger is best to stay in for pet-friendly hotels?
The best areas to stay in Geiranger for pet-friendly hotels are typically found along the Geirangerfjord itself, particularly near the village centre.

The village centre of Geiranger, located at the end of the fjord, is the main hub. It's compact and everything is within walking distance. You'll find the Geirangerfjord Visitor Centre here, along with several shops, cafes, and restaurants. The main road, Fv63, runs through the village, connecting it to the Eagle Road (Ørnevegen) and the scenic Dalsnibba viewpoint.

For couples travelling with pets, staying in the village centre is convenient. Many hotels here offer pet-friendly rooms, and you'll have easy access to walking paths along the fjord. It's a great base for exploring the area with your furry companion, with plenty of opportunities for walks and enjoying the scenery together.

Families with pets will also appreciate the village centre. The proximity to the fjord means easy access to boat tours (some of which are pet-friendly), and there are often open spaces nearby for dogs to stretch their legs.
How do I ensure I have booked a pet-friendly room in Geiranger?
To ensure you've booked a pet-friendly room on Expedia, use the filters in your search and select "Pet friendly" under the "Amenities" section. This will narrow your options to properties that allow pets. Once you find a hotel you're interested in, click on it and review the "Policies" section for specific details about their pet policy. This often includes information about pet types, size restrictions, fees, and whether pets are allowed in all rooms or only certain ones. When selecting your room type, read the room description to check that its pet-friendly, as not all rooms in a pet-friendly hotel may accommodate pets. For added peace of mind, contact the hotel directly to confirm the room you've selected allows pets.

Your dog will enjoy the exercise and the chance to explore the natural surroundings, and it's a memorable way to experience one of Geiranger's natural wonders.

For those who enjoy gentler walks, the area around the Geirangerfjord offers numerous paths that are suitable for dogs on a lead. Many of the local boat tours also accommodate well-behaved dogs, allowing you to experience the fjord from the water.
