"We originally planned to see Acadia National Park in Maine with our family, but revamped our plans completely after seeing this VRBO listing and learning about all that PEI has to offer. Our stay met & exceeded expectations, and our host was always helpful. We all loved the rustic interior of the house, which comfortably fit all seven of us & had a vacation vibe while still feeling like a home. (Note, the dining room table is bigger than the photo suggests.) The location is within easy walking distance of the beautiful Prince Edward Island Co. Preserve Company, where we had an excellent Sunday brunch and enjoyed the lovely gardens. We also walked to PEI Lobster Suppers, which is obviously an institution, and where we were well fed. Make reservations both places if you can. We enjoyed excellent food throughout our visit - The Rustico Cannery & Richard’s Victoria also stood out.The Rustic Retreat also a fantastic launching pad for seeing and doing so many other things across PEI - lighthouses, bicycling, beaches, cool national park center and trails at Greenwich, Victoria by the Sea, Charlottetown … We missed out on joining a ceilidh - live trad music offered at the local Lions Clubs and other places. If you go, don’t get there late like we did!"

"We were very impressed with the modern design, comfort, and cleanliness of this property. The home lacked of nothing with ample room for an entire family. We truly appreciated the quiet and privacy while still being within minutes of attractions, beaches, and amenities. Paul, the host, was reassuring, gracious and answered all our questions quickly. We strongly recommend this home and we would reserve again for another lovely stay. Thank-you for everything Paul!"

"The owner was super friendly and helpful! Anything we needed she supplied. The photos of property do not match the ad, but this is Expedia’s doing… the owner of the cottage did not post these waterpark photos. There is a water park that looks similar in photos, it is a 8min drive. Over all a great expierence. I would highly Recommend."

"This is a beautifully situated, well-maintained home with a lovely porch & an ideal location: close enough for a quick drive to Doiron’s Seafood, beach walk & restaurants, yet remote enough to feel like a true retreat. Thoughtful touches included screened windows, quality towels, linens, beds, beach chairs, sharp knives, easy-to-use washer and dryer, straightforward keypad access, and very welcome air conditioning. The deep bathtub and spacious bathrooms were especially enjoyable. Excellent internet access & emergency phone a plus.A few details kept the property from feeling fully polished. Despite the area’s emphasis on lobster, there was no large pot or shell-cracking utensils. Range-top markings were worn away, making it difficult to use, instructions for dual-use Keurig would have helped. A drying rack was needed for wine glasses that did not fit in the dishwasher.Two safety concerns deserve attention: the stairs to the comfortable downstairs bedroom had no banister, and the downstairs shower lacked an anti-slip mat.The décor felt somewhat disconnected from the setting. Rather than relaxed country casual, it combined beach-themed elements with oversized artwork with many artificial plants & flowers, creating a generic home-furnishings-store feel. Still, many guests will find this attractive, comfortable, well-situated property spacious enough for families or groups. A few practical improvements and a more cohesive decorative approach would elevate the experience."
