(546 reviews) Staff was awesome, breakfast was good, lobby was cute and location was great. However, listing pictures did not match accommodations provided. Hallways smelled of old cigarettes and bleach. Hotel had a worn, run-down feel. Lobby, hallways and breakfast bar were always cold, and the room heating struggled. Spent most of the time bundled up in a place where we were paying to get out of the cold. It is what it says - basic cheap , clean well located accomodation & nothing more - only thing to be aware of is they lock the doors at 8PM and change the entry code frequently, so you need to check with reception each night before you go out in case it has changed. (290 reviews) Great location, fantastic chef/owner who is very personable and always cares about the patrons. Been returning to this hotel for the past 8 years. The food, wine pairing are incredible reflecting the talent and the passion of the owner. Wonderful Baden-Württemberg in southwest Germany, on the edge of the Black Forest. Spa and pool complete the package and its location ideal for a short stop to continue travel to France, north or south Germany or for spending a few days exploring Freiburg.
