Bayview Lakefront Motel

"The front desk and housekeeping were very friendly. The room was very clean. I liked the knotty pine walls, which invoke an "Up North" feeling. In general the property was maintained but there were a couple issues. The TV remote hadn't been programmed (?) and was NOT intuitive to use. After several minutes of frustration the front desk guy had to be called to get the TV to work. There should be a written instruction posted for its use. The biggest issue for us however was the bed, it is way too soft to sleep comfortably. I could sit on it and sink down almost to the box springs. I did not sleep well and woke up with a sore back. The mattress needs replacement. Just an FYI, if you're sensitive to soft mattresses or prone to back pain you may want to avoid this place. If you like soft beds, this motel will suit your needs."

"Staff was amazing-so friendly and helpful. Rooms were comfy and clean. Love love the pizza and the club for meals and breakfast. Free shuttle to catch the ferry was always prompt and speedy to get us there on time. Can’t say enough-great beautiful place."

"Historical inn is beautiful (formerly a tuberculosis hospital). I do understand because of the age of the building, there are going to be some issues, but there were repairs that seemed to be easy fixes that have not been done. Our entry door didn’t open and shut properly, owner was aware but it didn’t seem to be an issue for them, we really had to put our shoulder into opening it and it didn’t shut completely so it was difficult to lock. Some times when we thought it was locked, the latch hadn’t caught so it wasn’t lock at all while we were out for the day. Bathroom door didn’t stay shut so we had the slide the metal bathroom garbage can to hold it closed for privacy, and there were no window coverings on the bathroom window which was a bit uncomfortable at night. The shower was amazing but the open concept of the shower in our room caused the water to leak out of the shower and because there were no areas to place clothes in the bathroom while showering,such as a small table or chair, I set my clothing on the floor. Needless to say, I didn’t have dry clothes that day. I will say though, the bed was extremely comfortable. That is something that gets very high marks from me at any place I’ve stayed! Grounds were beautiful and well maintained and the location along with all the outdoor seating options were perfect for watching the sunset. Overall the experience was pleasant."
