It's also a wonderful option for local families who need a little extra space for visiting relatives or friends. Our neighbors have booked The Cottage for their out-of-town guests on multiple occasions, giving loved ones a comfortable place to stay nearby while enjoying their own space.

With WiFi to stay connected when you need it, The Cottage is equally inviting for a remote work getaway, a creative retreat, or simply a few days away from the everyday.

    Inside the Cottage

Rich colors, vintage furnishings, locally sourced antiques, original paintings by Whidbey Island artists, and quality linens create a warm, inviting space with a personality all its own.

One of our favorite features is the handcrafted kitchenette, created by Whidbey Millhouse in Freeland. Its elm countertops, cabinetry, and shelving were made from trees that once grew just down the road. It's a lovely piece of Whidbey history and a reflection of the local craftsmanship that makes this island special.

Bring your laptop and enjoy a change of scenery while working remotely, or put work aside altogether and embrace a slower pace. Curl up with a good book, choose a game from our collection, enjoy a favorite movie, or relax by the warmth of the propane fireplace.

In the evenings, the setting sun sometimes filters through the feather grasses, bringing a lovely golden light into the Cottage. When the season allows, we also enjoy sharing fresh flowers from the garden.

The Cottage includes a comfortable queen bed with quality linens, a private bathroom, handcrafted kitchenette with convenient appliances, propane fireplace, WiFi, Smart TV, light-blocking window shades, books, games, outdoor seating, and one designated parking space.

    Explore Whidbey Island

Located in Freeland near Holmes Harbor, The Cottage is a convenient home base for exploring Whidbey Island's beaches, wineries, restaurants, local farm stands, galleries, and charming island communities.

Whidbey is beautiful in every season, from summer sunsets and colorful autumn vineyards to quiet winter weekends and the first blooms of spring.

Deer frequently wander through the property, and you may hear quail or spot other local wildlife. The Cottage's south-facing window overlooks the garden, with a glimpse of Mount Rainier in the distance on clear days. Seals, river otters, and occasionally orcas can also be spotted in the surrounding island waters.

    Good to Know Before Booking

The Cottage is a detached studio with its own entrance, bathroom, kitchenette, outdoor seating area, and designated parking space for one vehicle.

Perch in the Vines has multiple accommodations on the property. Behind The Cottage is a breezeway and a separate two-story home containing The Loft and Basecamp. Other guests may be staying in these accommodations during your visit. Each has its own entrance and designated outdoor spaces, and we ask everyone to respect the privacy of other guests.

The Cottage accommodates a maximum of two adults and is not suitable for infants or children, including daytime visitors, due to its compact size, furnishings, and property features.

Pets are not permitted. The entire property is strictly non-smoking, including outdoor areas. Smoking or vaping may result in additional cleaning or remediation charges.

The property is located in a quiet residential neighborhood along Honeymoon Bay Road. Traffic may occasionally be heard, and guests should use caution near the road.

Whether you're visiting loved ones, exploring the island, working remotely, celebrating something special, or simply enjoying a change of scenery, we hope The Cottage feels like a place you'll want to return to.
