Visit Freedom Park in Bengaluru
Freedom Park is just south of Bangalore Turf Club racecourse, in the central business district of Bengaluru. The site of the former Central Jail, it opened as a Freedom Park in 2008. Since then it has seen open public meetings, rallies, protests and speeches.
Freedom Park is also home to children’s play areas, a museum and an art gallery, and its overall design is said to have been inspired by Hyde Park and Kensington Park in London. There are two park entrances – one to the north on Seshadri Road, and one on Ramachandra Road to the south.

Closest to Freedom Park are hotels by some of India’s best known low-cost chains, OYO Rooms and Treebo. These are mostly between the Freedom Park’s eastern boundary and Danvanthri Road, close to Kempegowda Metro Station.
If you’re after a four- or five-star hotel, consider the area west of Cubbon Park, about a mile away. Here, you’ll find high-end accommodation from global hotel brands like Luxury Collection and Marriott.
Things to Do near Freedom Park
You’ll never be bored near Bengaluru’s Freedom Park. To the west of Freedom Park, Cubbon Park is home to various landmark buildings, the State Archeological Museum and the Venkatappa Art Gallery, while just to the south are two of Bengaluru’s most popular attractions.
Krishnarajendra Market, also known as KR or City Market, is a 20-minute walk from Freedom Park. Visit in the early morning to see the displays of flowers, fruits and vegetables at their best. Take some time out in Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace, famous for its ornate frescoes and carved teak pillars and arches before heading back for a rest at your hotel near Freedom Park.
