About this property

Faodail Cottage Highland Retreat

  • About the Property

Faodail, Scottish Gaelic for ‘a lucky find’, is a welcoming terraced home in the peaceful village of Onich, a short drive from Glencoe and Fort William. Close to the lochside, it offers a calm and comfortable base to unwind while staying within easy reach of the very best that the Highlands has to offer. Thoughtfully set up with simplicity and the guest experience in mind, it is a space that is easy to settle into from the moment you arrive.

    Living Space and Bedrooms

The living area is a cosy and inviting space, where you can snuggle up after a day in the Scottish countryside. There is a comfortable sofa, reclining chairs and footstools, a Smart TV with streaming services, including sports and movies, a selection of books, board games and family friendly activities to enjoy. Essential to your enjoyment, the patio doors have a fitted screen to prevent the famous Highland midges from entering the home.

Upstairs, there are two bedrooms, one with a king size bed and the other with a double. Both rooms offer storage, mirrors, charging pads and bedside sockets, along with blackout curtains to help ensure a restful sleep.

The bathroom has a bath with an overhead shower, providing a simple and functional space for your daily routine. There are quality Scottish products for showering, bathing and hand washing.

    Kitchen and Dining

The home is fully equipped with everything needed for a self catered stay. This includes a dishwasher, washing machine, cafetière, a Swan One Touch espresso machine and a supply of fresh Wild Highlands coffee to start your day. There is also a Ninja air fryer, offering a convenient option for quick meals and a Hotel Chocolat Velvetiser for an indulgent luxuriously smooth drink.

The dining table seats four comfortably and doubles as a flexible space for meals, planning your day or catching up on work if needed.

    Outdoors

Guests have full access to the property, including a private garden with outdoor seating and dining for four. There is an outdoor pizza oven too! The garden is enclosed and is suitable for children and pets. There is a wellies and boots box to the front.

    Location

Faodail is ideally placed for exploring the surrounding area. With the loch just 100 metres from the property, it is perfect for a quiet walk, where you can take in the views. Further afield, are the white sandy beaches at Arisaig and the Glenfinnan Viaduct and the Harry Potter steam train.

Glencoe, world renowned for it’s dramatic, volcanic scenery is suitable for walking, hiking, mountain biking and other outdoor pursuits. Located just 20 minutes from the property, it has been used in many movies, including Skyfall and Harry Potter. Fort William and Ben Nevis can also be reached in approximately 20 minutes. Nearby Ballachulish offers a local supermarket for essentials, within an 8 minute drive.

For those looking to enjoy the outdoors, Fort William is widely regarded as the ‘The Outdoor Capital of the UK’, with unparalleled access to hiking, walking, wildlife, watersports and boat rides.
