The room I was given at check in was not clean. There was hair on the bed, a used band-aid on the floor, and a variety of stains and detritus throughout the room.
I reserved a non-smoking room, but the room smelled strongly of stale smoke and there were numerous burn holes in the bed sheets.
The night manager confirmed with me that the room was non-smoking and had been cleaned. However, it was obvious to me that the room had not been cleaned and had been smoked in.
I checked out at this point and purchased a room at the Best Western in Fort Smith to sleep in. The night manager at Best Western shared that they frequently have guests come who "just can't make themselves stay at that Super 8".
A search of google reviews shows that this property has a history of poor maintenance and uncleanliness dating back at least three years. Others have reported prostitution and drug dealing. I saw ladies outside on hotel property wearing stereotypical prostitution attire, but I was not propositioned and I can't say with certainty that they were engaged in prostitution.
I don't expect lots of amenities from Super 8, but I do expect the rooms to be clean. I've never had a problem with the Super 8 brand before, and I plan to give the brand another chance. But my experience at the Super 8 by Wyndham Fort Smith has shaken my confidence.
