The Captain's Home: Art and History on the Coast of Maine
10/10 Excellent
"Beautifully-appointed, very clean, comfortable bright, updated historic home in easy-access central location. Large kitchen had all that we needed, set up in a user-friendly way. Bathrooms great with lovely old bathtub, great water pressure, super cushy towels! Wifi worked great. Amanda and Tiff the housekeeper were very helpful and easy and fun to interact with, and we looked forward to seeing the dogs Mike and Helen each day. Our only slight issue was with high season traffic noise at night from Route 1, which is understandable given location, it just caught us off guard. Once we adjusted to it, it was fine. We kayaked, hiked, and ate out daily in all locations within an hour of the house. A few miles away at Stockton Springs Marina is an EXCELLENT restaurant called The Cove which is like eating at the home of a friend who happens to be a pro chef. Highly recommended. "

"We had a wonderful time at this clean and well maintained property. Quiet and serene with a short walk down the stairs to the ocean. We’d love to come back again!!"
"We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this gorgeous property! The views were stunning and incredibly relaxing, and the house itself is beautifully charming – it truly feels like a well-loved home. We particularly enjoyed the artwork throughout, which we believe was created by the homeowner. The space was perfect for our mini-family reunion of seven people. Our six-year-old loved the couch, though we adults found it a bit less comfortable and opted to sit elsewhere – that would be our only minor suggestion for improvement. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and honestly wished we could have stayed longer. We'd love to return in the future! A special mention for Chuck and Mary, who we had the pleasure of meeting – such lovely, welcoming people.Highly recommended!"
"Stayed here in May for the weekend. Wonderful property close to everything we needed. Dog friendly and large beds! Hosts were accommodating to our needs and responded quickly to my messages. Thank you!"
The Best of Maine: Waterfront home/private beach on Penobscot!

"We just had a wonderful time getting away for the Thanksgiving holiday! We all had an awesome time and even got some snow! The only suggestion I would have to make since we did cook Thanksgiving sides of dinner at the house. A hand mixer or immersion mixer would have been helpful. I took advantage of my sons’ muscles! We will definitely be back!!"
