The modern eclectic style of this restored loft blends with architectural nods to the past. Spend your vacation, friends trip, or business travel in this elegant, high-end space. Listed on the National Historic Register, minutes from Little River Canyon National Preserve! (Loft access via stairs only.) As you enter the stairway that takes you to The Lofts, the space immediately tells a story. You follow in the footsteps of those who climbed these stairs before you to visit doctors, dentists, lawyers, seamstresses and others who occupied the space since it was built in 1914\. Art canvases along the oak staircase tell the story of a fire over two decades ago that left the space unusable and abandoned, preparing you for a dramatic “before and after” experience. Reaching the top of the stairs you are greeted by the next chapter in this historic building’s life: The Lofts on Gault. \[NOTE: The Lofts on Gault are a historical preservation project, and there is no elevator. Access to The Lofts is via a 26-step stairwell. Also, parking for The Lofts is on the side of and behind the building.\] The fleur de lis pressed metal ceiling harkens back to the building’s origin. The grand piano and curved wall in the foyer, along with the restored doors and transoms original to the building, set the stage for the elegance you will discover throughout this high-end space. The Judge William Wallace Haralson Loft is to your right. It is named for the attorney who purchased the land in 1912 and had the building constructed. Judge Haralson served in the State Senate and the State House, where he introduced the bill to incorporate the City of Fort Payne. He served as a circuit judge for 24 years, until 1928. At over 1,700 square feet, the Haralson Loft provides ample space for your family vacation, a special trip with a group of friends, or a quiet working trip/business retreat. Entering the Haralson Loft, you are immediately struck by the blend of modern eclectic style and historic preservation. The expansive hallway invites you into the space, where your eyes are drawn to the large dining table framed by tall windows that provide a bird’s eye view of Gault Avenue and the historic district of downtown Fort Payne. You’ll notice the detail in the guest bathroom to your right, followed by the exquisite tile work in the large, open kitchen that's appointed with new, modern appliances and all the amenities you need for your stay. You’ll be drawn to this space to cook and share meals surrounded by views of the mountains and historic downtown. The Haralson Loft features a spacious master bedroom suite with a comfortable king bed and top-of-the-line linens. The guest bedroom offers the same luxurious experience, with a queen bed. It is right downtown and within walking distance to restaurants and shopping. The space was very clean and inviting and it was clear the owners take pride in providing a welcoming and restful place to spend time. The interior of the apartment is well decorated and super fun! The beds were super comfortable and the baths were well equipped with plenty of soft towels, along with shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The only thing you should be aware of is that this apartment is right downtown and obviously very close to the main road, which means traffic is quite loud and the road is heavily traveled throughout the night. It is not so noticeable during the day, but when trying to sleep and all is quiet in the apartment, the road noise is loud enough that you need ear plugs in order to sleep. I did bring ear plugs with me and that solved the problem. However, having said that, this would not keep me from staying here again and plan to do so the next time I find myself in Fort Payne. We hosted a surprise 40th birthday party at the Haralson Loft and we could not have chosen a better venue. Every person who walked through the door was immediately mesmerized by the eclectic yet warm style of this beautiful loft. It is furnished with comfortable upscale furniture and even has a lovely grand piano! No detail has been left out! We fed and entertained 60 people and had plenty of room. The 2 bedrooms were perfect for a few of our out of town guests. They had everything they needed for their stay. This beautiful loft is by far one of the very best places in Fort Payne for weekend visits, luncheons, parties and even housing out of town family members. You will love it!! ##### Cindy L. My bestie and I came into town to shop at Vintage Pickin. We stayed at the Lofts on Gault in the Haralson side. Seriously so well thought out and furnished. We took pictures of each room it was so darling! Love the character and the mix of vintage building with modern design elements. You can tell the owners put so much heart and hard work into making this space the cutest rental! You’re right above a cute little coffee shop. We walked to 2 different restaurants during our stay as the weather was perfect! It was so much fun and the perfect little getaway! ##### Amy d. Very spacious and the decor was incredible! It was great to see the history being preserved and done in such a tasteful and special way. We enjoyed our stay so much and in a great location to attend events downtown. We will definitely stay again and may try the other loft next time. If I could give it 10 stars I would!
