Folk Museum

Nice hotel with a few misses Overall a really nice hotel, great location and a beautiful view. The pool is a highlight: big, properly deep and spotless. Rooms are spacious too. A few things let it down. The bathroom layout doesn't work. Water goes everywhere when you shower and there's no squeegee to clear it, so you end up walking through puddles every time you go to brush your teeth. We'd booked a room with two beds and that wasn't what we got. They set up a small separate sofa bed instead, which was fine because my friend is petite, but not ideal. The bedding was also an issue on arrival: hair all over the sheets and makeup on the pillow, so it didn't feel fresh. To be fair they changed everything straight away and it was fine after that, but it did put a bit of a damper on the start of the stay. Staff were fine overall, apart from the woman who checked us in who wasn't particularly friendly. Breakfast has plenty of choice, just not my cup of tea personally, but it does the job. Overall, still a lovely hotel in a good spot.

Booked a suite for 4 nights. This is a Small Luxury Hotel so expectations are high and they should be. Enjoyed our stay and were pleased but with some disappointments. The hotel is in a great location. Parking is difficult but this is Europe and a European city so we expect this and were given options by the doorman/bellman who was most helpful. Check-in was warm and welcoming along with helpful. Any contact with reception prior to arrival was replied to and dinner reservations made for us. This is not a purpose built hotel but a retrofit. Therefore there are quirks. The suite was comfortable but the bathroom for a suite in #15 is small. Maybe this shouldn’t be categorized as a suite but a large room with a small bathroom. Given the large windows the room is dark, natural light is non existent in the bathroom and the lighting in both bathroom and room is quite poor. The bed is very comfortable but … when our linens were changed we experienced cigarette smoke smelling linens. Very very unpleasant. The A/C worked well along with wifi. Yes, the water was hot. In the shower we had the setting on cold to make it comfortable. An unusual problem for sure. Complimentary bottle of wine was appreciated along with bottled water daily. Goodies at reception a nice treat. Breakfast was good with a small buffet and menu for cooked to order. Maybe not an extensive buffet but the cooked to order items were nice to have.
