They were celebrating their Golden (50th) anniversary. Initially they were given a room that was very far from the reception and required climbing stairs and didn't provide a clear ocean view (something we paid for). Also, they were not provided with drinking water in their rooms. On top of this, their in-room phone did not work. They were eventually moved to a better room on the ground floor, but the staff and service had already scarred the experience at the hotel. Prior to their stay at Sugar Beach, they stayed at the Le Meridien, where the staff, the service, the location were all top notch. The day and night difference between the two hotels made it worse at Sugar Beach. Will not be booking Sugar Beach Hotel again. Jessica was super enthusiastic and she is the real one who takes maximum efforts to run the show smoothly and makes the shuttle run in the absence of laid back staff, who are less responsive. The reviews can be mixed but having travelled around the world , chose this property only if you are very tight on purse. swimming pool was just ok , but the so called fitness area was pathetic. break fast also was not much to talk about as my wife had no breakfast all the 4 days as it has no proper veg options. Really tough if you have no vehicle as every restaurant close by is really far off."
