![Rarely do you get to witness something so simple but so magical ✨✨✨

Spending the evening boating in the Sine Saloum Delta, famous for its mangroves, I was lucky to witness the nightly migration of thousands of birds to this particular mangrove, where they rest and spend the night. This event is called as the ‘reposoir des oiseaux’ or ‘putting the birds to sleep’ Within 20 minutes the entire mangrove was filled with birds... one of the very rare places that’s untouched by swarms of tourists. It’s a world heritage site and a protected area and I hope it remains this way for eternity

"L’emplacement est correct proche du centre de mbour et de saly. La situation sur la plage est un plus. Par contre, il semble que l’immeuble abritant les chambres ne soient pas sécurisé au niveau électrique. Dans notre première chambre, le gérant a allumé le chauffe eau a notre demande, ce qui a eu pour effet de m’électrocuter car j’avais le pommeau de douche a la main ! "We loved the Ecolodge de Simal. It's really off the beaten track (quite literally so), but once you get there, the location is wonderful: right on the water. We were there for three nights. The food was plentiful, fresh, and tasty; the free activities (like a excursion en pirogue) was wonderful; the pool is chlorinated and clean; the rooms are rustic with open air bathrooms and toilets, but comfortable; the housekeeping good; the bar/restaurant staff friendly. It's not a "luxury" resort--there's no wifi or AC-but for the average traveler who wants to feel comfortable and relax, and who is interested in not seeing the "same old" Senegal, this place is for you! I would return again without hesitation. While you're there: take a day trip to Fadiouth and the amazing Musee Mich"
