About this property

1 Bed in Eye- (oc-34390)

  • Set in the heart of the Suffolk countryside yet just under 30 miles from the coast, this charming former apple store has been beautifully converted, and designer styled to offer a chic base for couples and solo travellers. Surrounded by 5.5 acres of picturesque, shared grounds and sitting on the edge of the 3,000-acre Thornham Estate, guests and their four-legged friends are well placed for long walks through water meadows and woodlands. The market town of Diss (8.5 miles) is nearby and offers a good choice of local shops as well as cafes, pubs and restaurants for the nights you don’t fancy cooking; soak up the region’s history with a visit to the town’s museum. Ipswich (18 miles) is one of the oldest towns in England and offers a bustling day out, while the Suffolk coast is within reach for days spent on golden sands; visit Dunwich, Walberswick and Southwold.

Before stepping into this unique property, take a moment to admire its wood-clad exterior and the greenery that surrounds you, setting the scene for a peaceful rural stay. Head inside to find that the original charm now combines with modern comforts and excellent attention to detail – thanks to the touch of an interior designer. Be greeted by a well-appointed kitchen space, where you’ll find everything needed to cook up Suffolk feasts, to be enjoyed at the table in the open-plan double height lounge/diner – the social heart of the former apple store. Each evening, unwind in the lounge space, sinking into the soft seating as the Smart TV streams and the wood burner crackles. In the day, enjoy the pretty views of the surrounding wild flower meadow garden and grounds thanks to the light-filling windows. Completing the ground floor is a handy shower room. When it’s time to call it a night, climb the stairs to find a characterful double bedroom with skylights that create a light and airy space.

Guests will find plenty of space to relax and explore outside, starting with the private patio garden, where outdoor furniture and a charcoal BBQ set the scene for memorable al fresco meals and evening tipples. Beyond, walk the 5.5 acres of shared, dog-friendly grounds featuring an apple orchard, a river and ponds, and even kitchen gardens where you’re invited to pick fresh vegetables – a magical experience each morning. Guests will also benefit from private parking for two cars.
