Adjacent to the owner’s home, it is ideally placed for exploring the counties of Shropshire, Cheshire, mid and north Wales, and close to Beeston Castle and the Sandstone Trail. As well as being well placed for use of local fields to walk your four-legged friends. The property is surrounded by popular tourist destinations and attractions, such as Llangollen with its horse drawn canal barges, steam railway, white water rafting centre, Erddig and Chirk Castle, Powys Castle and Attingham Park. Chester racecourse and the medieval towns of Shrewsbury, Ludlow and Bridgnorth are an easy drive, not forgetting Ironbridge, a World Heritage Site. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant 2½ miles. Very friendly and helpful owners, and a lovely welcome pack provided including home-made jam, fresh plums and tomatoes from their garden. Two National Trust properties nearby (Erddig and Chirk). The cottage itself is beautiful and is located in a nice, rural We loved our stay at Broad Oak Barn! The cottage itself is beautiful and is located in a nice, rural area. It is tastefully decorated and very well equipped. Bedrooms are large, spacious and comfortable. On arrival, everything was spotless and super clean and there was a basket in the kitchen with freshly picked fruit and veg from the owners' greenhouse along with a welcome note.. so thoughtful! There was also another basket with bread, scones, jam, tea & coffee and the fridge had butter, milk and a bottle of white wine. We chose this place mainly because we thought it would be ideal since we were taking our dog with us and she also had her own welcome basket with treats, toys, bowls and a towel. The secure garden was perfect for her and we were also allowed to take her off lead to a larger secure field around the cottage once the horses were done grazing for the day, which was great! While you can go for a run outside and there is a route, there are no public footpaths very close to the cottage and the main road outside is very narrow so it isn't ideal for a dog walk, but with the garden and the field, this was not a problem. The owners are very friendly and live just across the cottage and they gave us some great suggestions for nearby walks which are only a few minutes drive away. There are large supermarkets nearby which are easily accessible by car and also some nice pubs. On our last day, we even got some extra fruit and veg to take back with us. A few days after we returned, I received a post from the owners with an item of clothing that we didn't even realise we had left behind.. so kind of them! Wendy and Chuck, the owners house is onsite so if you have any problems they are on hand to answer any queries but without imposing on your privacy. A nice welcome addition when we arrived was the bottle of wine, milk, bread, butter, tea and coffee and Wendy’s delicious homemade jam accompanied with scones. In fact everything we wanted was there, it is a well equipped holiday home. If you want a relaxing break this is the place to go. We really enjoyed our stay at Broadoak. The barn is very comfortably furnished and was spotlessly clean, with flowers, some groceries and a bottle of wine provided for our arrival which was much appreciated. This is a really peaceful location and along with a very comfy bed was a great place to completely relax, and parking outside the door made life very easy. Owners Wendy and Chuck were extremely hospitable and on hand if needed but despite the main house being just across the courtyard were never intrusive. The enclosed garden was perfect for our dog to stay secure, and the gas BBQ, garden furniture and loungers allowed us to make full use of the great weather that we had. This was an excellent location for exploring this area. Ellesmere is a lovely town and the surrounding Meres provide some scenic walks. A short drive allows you to walk the Llangollen canal paths and walk across the famous Chirk and Pontcysyllte aqueducts, and there are also good walks around the Fenn’s Mosses Nature Reserve. This was one of our best UK holiday stays to date and have booked for next year. The fully enclosed garden and sitting area with a super barbecue and sun loungers. It would be difficult to find fault. We have been staying in cottages for the last 30 years and this is one of the best if not the best. Ellesmere is just a couple of miles away with lovely walks and plenty of shops. The only slight drawback is that there is no pub or shop within walking distance. The fully enclosed south facing garden was great for our dog. We particularly enjoyed the full width conservatory. Everything you could want both for yourselves and your dog was provided. The hosts were extremely welcoming and friendly, nothing seeming any trouble for them, while at the same time they were not at all intrusive. Ellesmere town was only 5 minutes’ drive away and the walks around the meres and alongside the canals were delightful. This was a fabulous venue for a family get together. The hosts were friendly & nothing was too much trouble for them. We had a great weekend away in the sun & were able to make good use of the barbeque. It was a truly memorable short break.
