Tiny Cabin on 23 Private Lake Front Acres
Get away from it all at our amazing tiny cabin in the woods. It's the perfect spot to disconnect and enjoy some peace and quiet, nature, and solitude. Our beautiful cabin in the woods has a 0.5 mile, private walking trail to the lake, a canoe by the water, hammocks, a picnic table, fire pit, grill, and plenty of space to roam and explore. The tiny cabin is perfect for a couples retreat or a family glamping trip. There's room on the lawn for the kids to bring a tent and camp out. Bring your dog along, too!
The Cabin: Our tiny cabin is 350 square feet and best for a couple or single family (sleeps up to 4). There is a queen mattress in the master bedroom and full size pullout couch. Fully stocked kitchen with full size appliances, coffee maker, toaster, and microwave. Full bathroom with shower. Front porch with rocking chairs and hammocks available for guests to relax and enjoy the woods.
The Property: Coldwater Rocks is situated towards the back of a very private 23 acre lot. There are two private hiking trails to the lake and a fire ring for campfires and s'mores. We provide various items; canoe, paddles, life jackets, hammocks, etc. Make sure you bring a fishing pole for the crappie, bass, catfish, and bream in the coves. At night, enjoy some great stargazing while listening to the coyotes, owls, and whippoorwills in the distance.
Nearby: We are only about 5 minutes from Richard B Russell State Park. Arrowhead Point Golf course is a must for golfers and the park also has a large sand beach, hiking trails, boat launch, pontoon rentals (highly recommended for cruising the lake!) and Frisbee disc course. Be sure to check out Blue Cielo Farms winery just down the road! It's about a 20 minute drive to Elberton, GA where you'll find restaurants, grocery stores, and other things to do. Athens, GA is around 45 minutes and worth a visit if you need to fill your time on a rainy day.
Our cabin is remote! Cell phone service is non-existent to spotty, at best, and we do not provide a phone or internet. Plan to be "disconnected" during your stay and enjoy the peace and quiet! This is the perfect place to get away from it all!

This property is exactly what we were looking for. Complete privacy in a beautiful location. We even got to see a meteor shower early in the morning. Looking forward to visiting again
This was such a treat to get off the grid with my hubby and the fur babies - very tranquil, and short walk to the lake! LOVED this little cabin :) And the hosts had everything you need there!
This cabin is exactly what our family needed! We were able to disconnect for three days and enjoy the woods, wild animals, and family time. The walk to the water was relaxing and the dog had plenty of space to run and explore. We will be back!!
I grew up on this lake. Often when we are in town we stay at the State park cabins, but they had no availability. I’m so glad I found this little cabin on VRBO! So much homier than staying at the cabins in the state park. We loved our stay.
Had a nice stay. Its peacefull and quiet ,cabin is clean. Nice outdoors space. Had some issues with some fallen tress because of a storm that rolled threw but they were cleared up promptly. Had a good time hiking the trails and fishing. Never caught so many catfish anywhere.
My mom and I needed a getaway from everything because I am going through stage 3 breast cancer and we just lost my 40 year old baby brother due to a car accident. This was just what we needed! We used the canoe to fish, sat by the water, and hung out by the fire!
Couple suggestions for future stayers:
We bought a fold up wagon with big wheels so we could put our fishing supplies, cooler, and chairs for sitting by the water which made walking to the water easier.
We also highly recommend Wilson's Guide Service for fishing. Luke was great company for the 6 hours we spent fishing. We caught 18 bass and 4 catfish! Highly recommend him for a great time on the water!
We highly recommend this rental if you want to get away from the business of life and enjoy nature!! Ryan was great when we had any questions and answered quickly! He did a great job with this rental and how secluded it is. Just be mindful the rental is in the woods and trees fall in the woods all the time so you may see trees lying around in the woods but no fault to the owner. We are very pleased we found this place! Again, highly recommended this rental!
Lovely cozy cabin was comfortably furnished and had everything we needed. We were so glad we were able to use the canoe. The property was beautiful and secluded and conveniently located near a town with restaurants and grocery stores. Also located near a very nice state park.
We loved this house! It was exactly as listed—clean, cozy, and perfect for a quiet getaway. The peaceful setting made it easy to totally unplug and relax. Would absolutely stay again!
Had an amazing time unplugging from the world and enjoying nature. Loved the short hikes to the lake, birdwatching during the day, lightning bugs at night, and the wide lawn for our pups. Be prepared to check for ticks daily!
Perfect place to connect with nature. Felt like the entire forest and lake was for ourselves. And the stars…. The house had everything that’s needed. Bring the bug spray for the outdoor!:)) Thank you for the wonderful stay!
The property was gorgeous, nice and peaceful, perfect for relaxing and disconnecting from the world!!

So worth the cost
Coldwater Rocks was the perfect weekend getaway for me and my girlfriend, who became my fiancee on our last morning there. The home is well-maintained and we loved the fact that it did NOT have wi-fi. We spent the weekend in nature and enjoying Blue Cielo, the local winery just 2 miles away.
Cute little cabin in the middle of nowhere and had everything we needed to get away from the world. We especially enjoyed the outdoor area where we cooked on the grill and had a nice fire each night. I've never seen so many stars!!! Nice trails to take a walk through the woods. We brought our own firewood but there is more than enough from fallen limbs and trees if you want to gather your own. Only a couple miles from Russell State park where it is clean and beautiful. We spent a lot of time there fishing. We also took a trip over to Diamond Hill mine and liked it so much we visited a 2nd time and found a lot of crystals. Be sure to bring some games or cards for the down time. The host was very responsive and nice! I recommend this little cabin to anyone that loves nature!
I came out with my wife, 6 year old daughter and 10 year old black lab. We all had a great a time hiking, fishing and swimming on the property. The cabin was cozy and well maintained. The area was secluded and allowed us to disconnect from the world and get in touch with nature. I would recommend this property a thousand times over and we will be back in the future. Don't miss out on this place!
We enjoyed every aspect of our stay at Coldwater Creek. The cabin was clean and perfectly decorated. Everything we needed for cooking and grilling was provided by the host, along with fresh linens and a nicely made, comfortable bed. Phone service was pretty much nonexistent which was perfect to disconnect from the world for a little while. We brought or fishing gear and spent most of our time out on the canoe or just sitting on the bank enjoying the crystal clear water and red sand. There was plenty space for our two dogs to explore. They loved walking the trails and swimming in the lake. Overall we had a great experience & plan to return very soon!
Very nice and cozy cabin. The acreage ensures privacy. Only three tiny issues that I noticed. 1) the lock on gate was tricky, had issue on first time but learned. 2) bedroom got hit at night even with the oscillating fan. Suggest to install an actual ceiling fan for better air circulation or HVAC in that room. 3) trail to lake was not adequately marked especially for dust-dark and lakeside trail head it marked. Suggest to mark the trail a little better and instal sign at trail head lakeside. Other than that, very enjoyable.
We visited the area for a JRT Funday event that was held just a few minutes down the road from this listing - we couldn't believe our luck to find a pet-friendly place so close, especially once we arrived. It was absolutely paradise! We barely got the bags out of the car before taking the dog for a long walk to explore the massive property, including a beautiful trail down to a sandy beach on a huge lake.
The tiny cabin was well-stocked with everything we needed, it's such a nice touch to include soap and shampoo so we didn't have to pack it all in. Despite the small space, kitchen has full size appliances with everything we needed to cook and eat - including salt & pepper, thank you! Nicely curated decor, everything is comfortable, incredibly peaceful. We started a fire and admired the massive darkness of the sky and how many more stars were visible than at home. Then the coyotes started howling and we laughed at our lack of bravery as we ran in the house. Great place, will definitely return.
A Hidden Gem (and the best vacay my dog Buster ever had)
Ryan's cabin is the perfect place for a couple or small family to unwind and get away from it all. Nestled at the bottom of a steep gravel road, the cabin overlooks a wooded trail that leads to the shores of Lake Russell. We especially enjoyed sitting on the porch under the fan while we grilled out (both nights) and drank our coffee in the mornings, enjoying the quiet.
The cabin itself is surprisingly efficient in its design; even with the full-sized appliances (which I loved), Ryan has managed to include more than adequate living, bathing, and sleeping space for two people and two little dogs.
I can only think of two possible negative things that I would mention about this property. The first is that the walk to the lake was a little farther than I expected, and since my husband injured his knee, we weren't able to take advantage of the canoe like I had hoped (luckily we have a boat at the nearby marina, but I still wanted that experience). The other issue is the land leading up to the property. It has been cleared very recently, and to be honest, isn't the prettiest sight to behold. I can tell that the land is a work in progress, so it may look very different by this fall, judging by the care that has been taken to the lawn and barbecue area next to the cabin.
The most surprising part of this trip was how much our dogs enjoyed it, especially Buster, our 13-year-old rat terrier. Normally, our dogs hate (and I mean HATE) going on trips, especially when we camp or do anything outside of their ordinary routine. I don't know if it was the near complete solitude or the fact that he knew he was going to be able to be off leash, but I honestly think that this is the first trip that dog ever chilled out on in his life. He even napped in the car on the way home, instead of pacing and panting like he usually does.
I would definitely love to visit this property again in the fall or spring, and highly recommend it.
