The Space:
Midland House is a three-bedroom architect-designed home on six private acres, about 6 minutes' drive from Daylesford. Tall gums stand on every side. Mornings start with coffee at the kitchen window looking into the forest, and nights end around the firepit under the stars.
The Space
The living room rises to a double-height ceiling with a band of high windows that frame the treetops. Sheer linen curtains soften the light, and sliding glass doors open straight onto the lawn and garden beds. A tan leather sofa and two leather armchairs gather around a round coffee table, and the long timber dining table seats the group for a long lunch.
The kitchen is the centre of the house. A long timber island holds an induction cooktop and the sink. Along the window, sage-green cabinets sit under a stone benchtop, with a view straight into the forest. There is an oven, dishwasher, microwave, blender, coffee maker, toaster and kettle, plus baking trays, plenty of crockery and wine glasses. Buy produce at the Sunday Market and cook for eight here.
The suspended fireplace stands between the kitchen and dining area, glass on every side, with a basket of wood beside it. A reading corner with two soft boucle chairs sits by the glass doors. Polished concrete floors, concrete block walls and warm timber run through the house. Air conditioning, heating and ceiling fans cover every season. Self check-in with a smart lock, and parking for several cars.
Sleeping Arrangements
The master bedroom has a king bed, a wall of sage-green joinery, and an ensuite with twin basins on a timber vanity and a bath. The second bedroom has a queen bed and a sliding glass door that looks straight out to the firepit and the lawn. The third bedroom has a queen bed and a double Murphy bed that folds down from the wardrobe wall. The Murphy bed is available on request; please ask at least 48 hours before arrival so it can be made up. That brings the house to eight guests.
There are two full bathrooms and a separate powder room. One bath sits under a wide window onto the garden, with a timber bath tray across it. A travel cot, high chair and children's tableware are on hand for families with a baby.
Work and Connectivity
Wi-Fi and a dedicated workspace for anyone who needs to log in during a midweek stay. Washing machine and dryer, and long stays are welcome.
The Grounds
Six acres of forest, lawn and garden are for your group only. The firepit circle has white Adirondack chairs set on gravel, a few steps from the BBQ and the glass doors. A picnic table under a market umbrella sits on the lawn for long lunches. Rusted steel planters are full of flowering plants. Down the slope is a private dam with a timber jetty, and there is a tree swing for the children. The dam is open water, so please supervise children outdoors. Firepit use may be restricted on Total Fire Ban days. Pets are allowed, and native wildlife may wander through.
