Great location in city center. Friendly and very helpful staff. Room is basic with comfortable bed with plenty of space and air conditioning in room. Would definitely stay again.
We were very late arriving and the host came to the hotel and let us in. He provided cold drinks since we had to wait a while. He had sent an email explaining how to get into hotel but we had not checked so was very kind to do all this.
Excellent stay with really friendly service. The room was large enough for a family of four. Centrally located.

Location is great! The people are nice. They have limited desk hours. I arrived after their hours. The hotel called me and sent me information so I had no problems in accessing my room. They are very responsive on the telephone for any questions I had after check-in.

Great location, rooms outdated and no door to toilet.
Bed comfy.
Most helpful on arrival - hotel bit run down but very clean with comfy beds. Very central and convenient, and very good value for money so would certainly recommend it
I realised some time ago that good service and atmosphere - to feel I am welcomed and looked after - are more important to me than comfort and facilities. However, Hotel de la France was so entirely lacking in all these things and the belligerent attitude of the proprietor just made me more and more aware of the defects in this hotel. The decor was horrible, e.g. pink paint peeling off the tiles round my tiny bath; my room was freezing cold; there was nowhere comfortable to sit. I could go on. Every effort had been made to keep costs down so that everything was a cheap and nasty as it could be. I loved the situation of the hotel but from the moment I could get in to leave my bag - it was locked up until 4pm - I met with discourtesy and lies from the proprietor who accused me of getting my booking wrong. I did not - it was he who had it wrong. I cannot recommend this hotel..

Nice central hotel
Only stayed 1 night as a stop over but the hotel was nice. Its a bit run down but this is made up for with nice staff, great location and a clean room (If not a bit rough round the edges). The room was spacious and clean, very nice for a night right in the middle of town. Parking was close by, not an issue there and cheap for overnight.
Very central location for a short stay, with view over pretty canal. Large, basic room, very pink! Bathroom door was a plastic concertina screen & not ideal for privacy! Taxi very expensive from the station - it is walkable, about 17 minutes.

Basic room, next to Castilette though.
Good location. Unknowingly was there for end of Tour de France stage. Lots of fun. Saw a music show in old city which was great. Are going back to visit castle.
We only stayed in night. The hotel was very central. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. It was a lovely quaint hotel as my previous stays had been in more commercial hotels. I would stay there again

Conveniently placed hotel in need of modernisation
Welcoming staff. Pleasant and helpful.
Room dated. Hairdryer in fixed positioned in bedroom and mirror in bathroom. Dressing table mirror also fixed so difficult to use effectively.
Excellent position for walking into town or catching buses.Restaurants and pubs short walk away.
This is a great hotel run by friendly helpful owners with a superb city centre location right next to great restaurants and the medieval centre of Perpignan. Clean, comfortable rooms. This is not a faceless chain of hotels.
Lack of wardrobe and only a curtain to separate the bathroom from the bedroom .

Dear anonymous guest, Sorry that your stay did not go as well as you expected. In fact, the econmic rooms have minimum equipment, but on request at the reception we can meet your extra needs without supplement. Other room categories are equipped with tea / coffee making facilities, mini refrigerator, ..... Regards the management
We didn't stay at this hotel. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. We got to the hotel after the staff had gone home, around 8:30 pm. No problem we got the code and the key to our room. We got into the room and my son noticed a couple of little black bed crawling on the wall. We pulled back the covers and found a couple more black bed bugs in the sheets. I pulled back the covers on my bed and found bed bugs in the sheets also. We immediately left. I put a note on the front desk saying we didn't stay here because of the bed bugs. We found another hotel about a 5 minute walk from here and stayed there. This Hotel de France was old and dingy and needed a good cleaning. Do yourself a favor and find somewhere else to stay.

Centrally located hotel with friendly staff
We stayed for one night after flying in to Perpignan, then travelled on to Girona the next day. The hotel is right in the centre by the castle and the airport bus stops right outside it so it was ideal. There are lots of good restaurants along the same street. We stayed in a triple room with a 3yr old and 10 month old and the helpful staff set up a travel cot. Decor is slightly dated but the room was clean and the beds are very comfy and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
Cheap and cheerful, no staff around though the day, was double charged for my stay, the staff struggled to understand English and was double charged for our stay
Tanya
Hello Tania and thank you for your visit. Sorry that the front desk staff could be away for lunch ... and check room facilities. I am glad that the problem of double regulation was resolved the same day. Good to you. The direction.

Arrived at rush hour and sat Mac needed to find way to hotel around Perpignan one way system. Can park outside for off loading but then parking is on street or underground payable. Reception very friendly. Bedroom perfect and breakfast good value. Free strong wifi a bonus too

Beautiful location by the canal!
This location is superb for access to restaurants, buses, supermarkets, shops. You can take a city bus to the train or bus station or do as we did and walk. The front desk staff was helpful and friendly. While the hotel could use some updating and freshening up in the rooms, everything was serviced well, clean and comfortable. A great stay.
This hotel is in a great location but is very basic accommodation. Our double room was so tiny you could barely get either side of the bed and the décor and furniture is very tired. Our bed dipped in the middle which didn't bode well for a good nights sleep.
The hotel was closed from 11am until 3pm which I was not told about when I booked as I specifically asked for an early check in so we ended up having to carry our luggage with us until it opened at 3pm, very inconvenient.
Arriving after travelling through Pyrenees on motorbike.central location, old style room balcony overlooking river good breakfast friendly helpful staff good night's sleep.ideal for exploring town.
The suggestion by the staff on day trips was very helpful. Even though only one person can speak fluent English, the other recipionists are courteous.

Close to Centre
The staff were faultless. The price was at the bottom end and the location central. The inevitable compromise is that the place has not kept up with the times and the room was cramped. Still for a quick stop over it may well serve your purpose. Pity Hotels.com did not make clear we were four !
