This wasn’t your typical “hotel”. We were struggling to find something affordable during the busy July month in Split, most hotels were double if not triple the price of Boutique Sailor rooms. We were skeptical at first because of the great price but after reading the reviews and staying there for 5 nights ourselves, we totally get the hype now! This “hotel” was more like a mix of a hotel & an airbnb. The room felt exactly like a hotel but there is no lobby, no staff on the premises and certainly no room service (sort of). The hosts (a husband and a wife) were incredible. All the communication is done via WhatsApp. They were able to pick us up from the bus station and drop us off at the airport all free of charge (of course we tipped). The “hotel” is located on a relatively busy street but you’d never know it once you’re inside. It’s located in a building of roughly 3 levels (no elevator) but the rooms are situated just up one flight of stairs. There’s 3 boutique sailor rooms and they are all right next to each other. The layouts are thoughtfully designed and we got lucky and got one with a balcony.
The hosts are available to give recommendations, bring you breakfast, extra towels, clean the room, etc…just like a hotel. The only difference is instead of calling the lobby, you message the host via WhatsApp. They are super responsive and soooooo nice.

Perfect base for exploring Split- close walk to old town!
We absolutely loved our stay at PIETRA ROSSA! The location couldn’t be more perfect—tucked right in near the heart of the Old Town and port, so everything was just a short walk away. Despite being so central, it felt quiet and peaceful inside.
The room itself was spotless and had a nice modern feel. The air conditioning was an absolute lifesaver (especially during the summer heat!).
We were a little nervous about the self-check-in process, but it couldn’t have been easier. The host Ana sent super clear instructions and was quick to respond to any questions we had. It made arriving feel seamless and stress-free. She arranged to greet us at the apartment and was extremely friendly and helpful.
Honestly, it was a great stay and we’re already talking about coming back. If you’re looking for a clean, comfortable, and well-located place in Split don’t hesitate to book this one!
We will definitely be back. 😊
