#### Marvel at the constantly shifting dunes of this stunning beach, which meets the sparkling Atlantic Ocean and is fringed by emerald forests.

Dunas Beach is a stunning coastal strand featuring spectacular turquoise waters and soft, white sand. Located in the quiet southern outskirts of Cabo Frio, the beach is known for its utter seclusion and peaceful setting. Snap photos of the dense verdant vegetation that encloses the sandy bay.

Bring your kids to clamber over the impressive sand dunes from which the beach takes its name. Feel the soft touch of the sand on the soles of your feet as you walk along the peaks of the dunes. The wind ensures the topography of the beach is never the same, with constantly changing sandy formations along the strand.

Find the perfect sandy spot and lay down a blanket for a picnic with a view of the Atlantic Ocean. The coastal stretch is renowned for its cleanliness. Work on your tan on a hot afternoon and cool down with a swim in the refreshing ocean water.

Bring snorkeling gear to get a glimpse of the colourful fish swimming at your feet. It is fairly windy and wavy around this cape, making for perfect surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing conditions. Join the watersports enthusiasts and fishermen on the water.

Purchase snacks and refreshments as well as souvenirs from the few kiosks that adorn this otherwise unspoiled beach. The kiosks offer umbrellas and deckchairs to rent for the afternoon. Stay for the sunset and watch the moody hues of the evening sky begin to emerge. Many different lodgings are lined up along the back of the beach, so you can easily spend the night in this beautiful place.

Dunas Beach is close to the Guarani district, toward the southern end of Cabo Frio. Walk south from the heart of the town for roughly 1.5 miles (2.4 kilometres) to get here in around half an hour. Make sure you take the time to see some of the nearby sights along the way, such as Forte Beach, Águas Plaza and the São Mateus Fort.

I liked the accommodation is staffed throughout day and night, and that you can leave your key there if you want to so you don’t need to worry about losing it when going out partying or to the beach. Staff was kind and the area is pretty convenient between beaches in Ipanema & Copabana. They changed towels everyday which I wasn’t expecting and thought was nice.
