"Magnificent hosts. We love the French countryside and chateau Latour is placed strategically well for rides in the most beautiful landscape with fields, hills and forrest mixing constantly. No straight roads! The hosts serve home-made delicious food based on local products adding their own flavors. Our compliments to the chefs. Hôtel de l'Europe

Hôtel de l'Europe
Corbigny
5.0 out of 10, (4 reviews)
"Not to be mistaken for a hotel, this is a self service set of prehistoric rooms, except for the pricing. Cleanliness is subpar, towels are older than my grandmother, and air conditioning is not a technology that has reached this part of the world. I was desperate to get some rest, but good luck doing so in 30 deg C temperature with no air conditioning. Oh and not to forget the noise from the restaurant downstairs right beneath my window. I arrived in the afternoon around 3pm to find the door...

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Dun-Sur-Grandry?
The best area to stay in Dun-Sur-Grandry is within the village centre itself, particularly around the church and the main square.

This small, picturesque village is the heart of Dun-Sur-Grandry. The main square, often simply called Place de l'Eglise, is where you'll find the local bakery, a small grocery shop, and a couple of traditional restaurants. The streets radiating from the square are lined with historic stone houses and offer a pleasant environment for a relaxing stay.

For couples seeking a peaceful and authentic French countryside experience, staying in the village centre is ideal. You'll be within easy walking distance of local amenities and can enjoy quiet strolls through the village streets. It's a wonderful base for exploring the surrounding Burgundy vineyards and natural parks, with the convenience of returning to a welcoming village setting.

Families will also find the village centre appealing due to its convenient access to essentials. The local park, often adjacent to the church, provides a nice space for children to play.
When is the best time to go to Dun-Sur-Grandry?
The best time to go to Dun-Sur-Grandry is during the late spring (May to June) and early autumn (September to October) when the weather is pleasant and the region's natural beauty and wine culture are at their peak.

Late spring offers mild temperatures, superb for exploring the Burgundy countryside and its vineyards. The landscape is lush and green, and the first blossoms appear. This period is ideal for those who enjoy outdoor activities such as cycling along the Canal du Nivernais or walking through the Morvan Regional Natural Park. You'll find fewer crowds than in the peak summer months, allowing for a more relaxed experience.

Early autumn is another excellent choice, particularly for those interested in wine. The grape harvest typically begins in September, offering a chance to witness the winemaking process first-hand in the vineyards surrounding Dun-Sur-Grandry. The region's forests also transform with stunning autumnal colours. The weather remains comfortable for exploring, and many local food and wine festivals take place during this season.

While summer (July and August) is also popular, it can be warmer and busier with tourists.
