Was on beach, plenty of lounge chairs and pools.

Posted 19-Sep-2016
Pros: The availability of lounge chairs and umbrellas around pool and beach. The separate villas made Dubai seem tropical and resort like.
Cons: Unfortunately, I felt the gentleman outside by the pool/beach were hot so perhaps not as friendly looking as they could be. It is understandable!!
Location: It was outside the city, had a coastal feel. The Lime Tree Cafe was across the road. Not to be missed. Taxi was easy and cheap to Dubai Mall etc.
Check in was quick and polite. Easy to get around facility. Breakfast brunch had variety and was fresh. I am looking forward to another visit.

hotel bien placé

Posted 28-Aug-2016

When you call yourself 5*, you need to be 5*

Posted 21-Aug-2016
Pros: The grounds and facilities are nice and neat, but nothing to write home about.
Cons: The service. 5* isn't just having 2 pools and a bunch of restaurants, it's 5* service. So many better choices in the immediate area.
We live in Dubai and stayed here for my birthday weekend mid-Aug. We've stayed in a dozen Dubai resorts, and this was a really disappointing experience. This hotel may look 5 star but its services are more in the 2-3* range. 1. Being charged for ice. After your first small bucket of ice, they charge you per bucket. The room rate for the exec.suite we were in was 3700 AED ($1,000) per night and you're going to nickel & dime and charge 25AED ($7) for ice when it's over 50 degrees out? Unacceptable. 2. "Extra" services. Middle of the night one of the women needed some feminine hygiene products. We called the front desk and spoke to at least 5 people before anyone could figure out what we were asking for. Finally, they said that they don't have ANYTHING avail (what?!) but that they could send a guy to the nearest convenience store to get some -we would just have to pay for it. The guy shows up in 30 min: the item is 10AED but taxi is 70AED which is crazy because the nearest Zoom store is 1.6km away, and in Dubai, 70AED can get me 30km in any taxi. And he didn't get what we needed. 3. The room has a balcony with no chairs on it. When we asked for chairs they looked confused and said to move the the big armchairs from the bedroom outside...um..no? I won't be moving oversized furniture during my stay. We brought all of this to the mgr at checkout and he just hobbled his head and shrugged his shoulders like "that's just how it is". Unacceptable for a 5* (or for a 3*...)

Pros: The pools, staff and location
Location: Lots of restaurants and cafes... Tim Horton, Starbucks, broccoli (pizza place with delicious pizzas), Arabian food restaurant, Johnny rocket, etc
I spent 6 days at this hotel and I don't have any complaints. Contrary to others who said that the staff is rude or not friendly I found the staff to be very helpful and polite. They always greeted us with a smile and always attentive to our request or need. The hotel is clean with nice pools; the beach was also nice. Room was spacious and it was cleaned every day (the guy who cleaned my room was so humble and polite). In my opinion it doesn't look like a 5 stars hotel, but the price was right. I only wanted a clean hotel with a pool near to restaurants because I went to Dubai to enjoy Dubai not to spend my vacation in a hotel room. Moreover it is across Jumeirah Mosque so you'll hear the call to prayer beginning at 4:30 am. However I am Catholic and I really looked forward the call to prayer because I found it to be such a soothing sound. In addition there is a guy at the lobby that will help you book any tour you want, so no worries about booking it ahead and the prices were reasonable.
