About this property
The Owls Rest
Nestled in the peaceful countryside of rural East Yorkshire, The Owl’s Rest offers a truly idyllic escape for those seeking relaxation, comfort, and a connection with nature. Set on a working farm near the charming market town of Driffield, this beautifully converted barn blends rustic character with modern convenience. Inside, exposed beams and vaulted ceilings create a warm, inviting atmosphere, while large feature windows flood the space with natural light and frame the surrounding countryside.
Thoughtfully designed for ease and comfort, the cottage offers all ground-floor accommodation. Underfloor heating, powered by an energy-efficient air source heat pump. The well-equipped kitchen and dining area provide everything needed for relaxed meals or culinary adventures, while practical touches such as a washer/dryer and rotary washing line make longer stays effortless.
The cottage features two comfortable bedrooms with flexible sleeping arrangements—ideal for couples, friends, or small families—with options including a double and either twin or single beds. A modern bathroom with both a bath and separate shower cubicle ensures guests can unwind in comfort after a day of exploring.
Beyond your doorstep, the very best of East Yorkshire awaits. The stunning sandy shores of Wilsthorpe are just 13 miles away, while the traditional seaside town of Bridlington offers a classic coastal experience, from its Victorian promenade and renowned fish and chip shops to lively amusements and fresh seafood straight from the harbour—Bridlington proudly known as the lobster capital of Europe. Nature lovers will feel right at home, with nearby Top Hill Nature Reserve offering exceptional birdwatching opportunities, including multiple hides and a viewing gallery. The rolling landscapes of the Yorkshire Wolds provide endless walking and cycling routes, perfect for exploring at your own pace.
For days out, the historic cities of York and Hull are within easy reach, each offering a distinctive blend of heritage and modern attractions. York is renowned for its rich medieval character, with highlights such as the iconic York Minster, the charming Shambles, and its well-preserved city walls. Visitors can also step back into the city’s Viking past at the Jorvik Viking Centre, an immersive attraction built on real archaeological remains that recreates life in 10th-century York through sights, sounds, and interactive displays. Hull, a former UK City of Culture, presents a vibrant waterfront, the historic Old Town, and attractions like The Deep, as well as a growing food and arts scene.
Closer to home, the picturesque market town of Beverley offers a more relaxed pace, celebrated for its stunning Beverley Minster, cobbled streets, boutique shops, and popular weekly markets. Nearby Driffield adds to the appeal with its traditional market town atmosphere, local produce, and easy access to the surrounding Yorkshire Wolds countryside, creating a diverse range of experiences right on the doorstep.
The Owls Rest can only accept children over the age of 7. Please note: To accommodate our housekeeping schedule, check-in days are Saturdays only. Shorter stays are welcome, but are charged at the standard weekly rate. If your stay extends beyond 7 nights, the full two-week rate will apply.
