Really cozy & well kept home. Unfortunately water table too low to put in kayak at house, but dock great to sit on & chill. Deck is terrific—has covered & uncovered sections which is really sweet. Easy drive to excellent hiking. All amenities also easy access by car.
We had a great time at this property! Everything was as expected and the check in/out process was easier than expected. I really appreciated the cleanliness of the property and all the available amenities. This property enhanced our short vacation so much.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Trout House! The location is picturesque and peaceful and the house was clean, cozy and comfortable. Justin was an attentive and responsive host and we look forward to returning.
We had a fun filled, rain with sun and rainbows weekend! Beautiful lawn for kids and dog to play. Loved the cover porch for games and meal time. The beds were cozy and had everything we needed. Close to good fishing spots and hiked nearby in the fall foliage. Fire pit was nice at night!
The property was really nice. Waterfront was great, having the use of kayaks and canoe was great, the house and amenities were really nice, and everything was so clean. One of the surprising things this time around for us was there really weren’t any chores to do before we left which was a nice change from previous rental we have been too. The property owner was very responsive. Great relaxing stay!
House and property were beautiful ! We had a plumbing issue and it was addressed immediately . The sliding glass door is difficult to open and close . The kayaks were hard to take out and it was very muddy and shallow .( I think because we are only in April !) I’m sure it’s a lot easier in the summer ! But once in and got going we caught a fish !
Great first impression and comfortable house.
The river where house was located was a bit of backwater-not the most scenic view of River and not the best fishing section.
The sliding glass door did not slide well and was hard to open/shut especially for the kids, and thus got left open sometimes.
All in all, a pleasant well-stocked place to stay.
Property is nice and recently redone. Location is great for river access and central to Downsville. The ability to use on site kayaks and canoe is great. Host communication is excellent and Justin was accommodating. Only 2 wall unit ACs with 2 bedrooms not having anyway to cool or move the air around. Borrowed a fan from a friend. Bathrooms could use a little more counter/shelve space for toiletries. Would definitely recommend this location for a Downsville retreat!
This house was truly an escape to nature. The view from the backyard looks like a painting. We kayaked daily during our stay. The equipment for kayaking is on the property with life vests! Justin, thought of everything! We saw an eagle ( amazing). The lake is beautiful! We got some great pictures. The fire pit at dusk while making s'mores was idyllic. The home was clean and Justin provided everything you will need. Additionally the communication was effective and prompt!
Parents creating memories for their daughters...Priceless!
Trout River House is such a welcoming and comfortable place! Despite the fact that the weekend we visited was a very hot and rainy one, we got to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature, as well as the mountain views, right from the back deck overlooking the river. The deck roof provides more than ample coverage for the spacious dining table and chairs, the propane grill, and several Adirondack chairs. All of the appliances we used --- including the refrigerator, the oven, the stovetop, the coffee maker, the dishwasher, the microwave, the Smart TV, and the grill --- worked perfectly. Each of the three bedrooms is equipped with its own cooling unit (complete with remote control), as is the common area. Everything in the house is clean as a whistle! On our way out of town we stopped at the Downsville Diner, a very friendly place that served us generous and delicious breakfast specials. We highly recommend a trip to the Trout River House!
Nice location on the water with a large deck to relax on! The house is just as described, has all the kitchen essentials you'd need, and is perfect for a weekend. Check out Al's Sports to rent kayaks or canoes, and enjoy the Downsville Diner and The Old Schoolhouse Restaurant.
The trout river house is great! Has everything you need to have a great weekend and relax. There’s lots to do around the area but we didn’t feel the need to explore much since we were so comfy at the house. Justin was great to work with through the whole process!
We had a great time! The house is on a pretty busy road so had to keep dogs on a leash but they loved the muddy river! Fishing down river was excellent.
An absolutely wonderful place to stay. Communication with Justin was great. the cottage was very clean and cool as the temperature outdoors was 90 plus. The beds are comfortable and the big shower was delightful. Being at the end of July, the river was low but the view is fantastic. A blue heron came each evening to feed. Location to many hikes, etc is a bonus. Would definitely return to this place. Thank you for sharing your lovely home.

This place is a gem. This was our second time here it feels like our home away from home. We enjoyed the river the fire pit and the bbq all weekend with my family. The view is always beautiful and we can’t wait to go back. Quiet and cozy place.
Beautiful country location near my hometown. Communication of owners was the best I have seen. Would stay again when visiting this area. Peaceful and serene property.
Home was very clean. Kitchen was well stocked. I did not use the kayaks, but did you use the canoe which worked out wellIf you’re going to stay there, I’d suggest bringing a pair of binoculars. Saw one bald eagle there’s several kingfishers and some other nice birds in the little small pond area behind the homeOverall, I rate it an excellent property.
Property backs up to river, we sat outside by fire pit and enjoyed the quiet and views. Bald eagle flew overhead upon our arrival. Very easy to communicate with homeowner

Me and my family had a great experience staying there. The river behind the house was really fun activity for all of us and especially for my nieces. There was kayaks and canoes available for us to use so we didn’t have to go anywhere to do an activity. The home was clean and cozy I would definitely love to rent it soon again. Great views the house had everything quiet and peaceful.
