About this property

Little Nest, St Margaret's Bay

  • Little Nest is a unique coastal hideaway perched above the White Cliffs of Dover. Part of the historic Old Coastguard Lookout, this self-contained annexe offers a peaceful retreat for couples seeking fresh sea air, spectacular scenery and a truly memorable location on the Kent coast. The accommodation includes a king size bedroom with a comfortable mattress, privacy curtains and blackout curtains for the most comfortable nights sleep. The kitchenette has everything you may need for simple holiday meals with a microwave, kettle, cafetiere and fridge/freezer. The beautiful shower room has a rainfall shower and handheld attachment, a heated towel rail and plenty of considered storage space. The owner even provides guests with towels for the beach. Step outside and you'll find yourself surrounded by some of England's most iconic coastal landscapes, with clifftop paths, secluded beaches and breathtaking sea views in every direction. By day, watch ferries pass through the Channel while France stretches across the horizon on a clear day. Guests have access to the shared garden area, where glimpses of the historic wartime tunnels hidden beneath the cliffs offer a reminder of the building's fascinating past. The South Foreland Lighthouse, White Cliffs and England Coast Path are all within easy walking distance, while the villages, pubs and restaurants of St Margaret's Bay, Deal and the wider Kent coast are close by. Originally part of a 1920s coastguard station and later the celebrated Bluebird Café, Little Nest now offers a rare opportunity to stay in one of the most remarkable coastal locations in England. Little Nest is perfect for couples, walkers and those simply looking to escape the everyday.

A beautiful place to stay

The cottage is in an ideal location, with fantastic views out over the sea and over to France, and you can go for walks from the front door without needing the car. The Smugglers Inn and village shop are within walking distance and both are excellent for food and supplies. You can also walk down to St Margaret’s Bay to the beach and the Coastguard pub for food, also excellent. We had a lovely holiday and I would recommend this as a place to stay.
