last week before school
we had a great week at the lake house on sebec lake. the house was more than equipped with everything you could ever need including games, kayaks and movies. the owners were very responsive and the dock was incredibly peaceful. we had a great time.

Would love to stay again!
We had a wonderful week of family time at the lake! We enjoyed the kayaks and paddle boards, the float, outdoor fire pit, portable fire pit on the deck, screened-in outdoor grill, games in the big yard, and many other amenities. Would love to stay again!

Fantastic property with fabulous views! Highly recommended!!
I took this trip with my four young daughters (ages 9-16) and my two dear friends. We had a wonderful time at this house! Clean, spacious, very inviting house. We enjoyed the view from the porch, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, fires and s’mores. This was our first time in Maine and it certainly did not disappoint! Wonderful rental property! I highly recommend!! Thanks for the memories!!

Amazing stay
We had an amazing stay at this property and will deifnitly be returning for another trip. The property owner was very responsive to any questions we had. The house was very clean. The only complaint we had was that the lawn was not mowed and the grass was a bit too long. My toddler had a tick on her from this. Other then that we have no complaints.

This was a mixed experience
The house itself is lovely and the owners very responsive. If two adult couples want to stay in this home, it is perfect. However, it is advertised for up to twelve people and we felt it is was woefully under equipped for a group that size (which we were). When we arrived, there was no bedding for the sofa bed (which we needed) and because it was in a locked closet we could not access it until the following morning so some of our group spent the night on a bare mattress with a sofa pillow. There was no laundry detergent in the house, (no store closer than 30 minutes) and less than half of the bath linens needed for a group our size. While those issues were resolved the next day, it began our stay with a LOT of frustration. (Again, the owners were very responsive, very gracious, and quick to address the issues. ) It is important to note that there were no blankets or throws in the house to cuddle outside with on cool evenings or for watching movies or snuggling by the fire. (This has been noted in other reviews). There was also no reading material in the house, which is different from other VRBO homes we have stayed in. Again, lovely home for an adults getaway-would not recommend for a large group or a family with younger children.

Good communication, however, the guest was not going to be happy no matter what we helped with. We let the guest check in early, then received a message at midnight that the pull out couch had sheets missing and there were only 8 washcloths. We replied in 6 minutes, apologized and continued to reply after midnight that we will send cleaning company in the morning to bring the missing items. We provided the code to storage closet with extra items 7 minutes after midnight, not in the morning as guest claims. She stated WI-FI was not working, however, she wasn’t using the correct username and password which we sent to her before check-in. Then, guest complained that one ceiling fan doesn’t work, but she did not turn on the separate switch for it on the wall. Then, guest complained that one window blind has no strings to which we explained that it is a stringless blind. In the morning, guest said she didn’t have laundry detergent tabs since she must have wanted to do laundry 12 hours after check in so the cleaning company owner delivered the items herself that morning with some sweet treats as well. Even though there was no excuse why the items were missed, we got all of it for the guest in the morning. We refunded the guest the cleaning fee even though there were no issues with cleanliness of the place. We also got the dock installed earlier than usual so guests could use it. After check out, guest said more items were missing like colander, iron, extra blankets, and magazines. Our cleaning company checked and all items were in place so we sent pictures showing all of the items that the guest missed (extra comforter instead of blanket), but did not hear back. We don’t provide magazines either and it’s not mentioned on our listing. Cleaning company spend extra hours cleaning the house after check out as there were lots of kids who brought dirt and dry mud into the house, but we did not charge the guest any extra cleaning fees at all. The listing clearly states 4 queen beds, sleeper sofa, and twin+trundle. Kids love our place as seen in 100 reviews! We apologized for items missed, delivered them and refunded the fee, but the guest continued to look for anything she could find wrong which is unfortunate as enjoying the lake house would have probably been better use of the guest’s time. We pride ourselves on always responding promptly and immediately take care of unforeseen issues as shown in 100 of our reviews. Wish her better luck with other places.

A wonderful get-a-way with friends!
Three couples with four kids in tow ventured to this beautiful property for three nights and we all had a wonderful time! Very quiet, private, and all of the amenities were exactly as described. We loved having queen beds in each room and bathrooms for each family! There was plenty of space for privacy, but the open kitchen and living room were perfect for gathering. We will definitely be back!!

If you choose to bring extra people the loft above the garage (sleeps 4) is always available to rent which has more beds with bedding provided. Fabulous, peaceful, getaway!
Owner was very prompt answering all questions. Listing is just as it was described. The whole family enjoyed our getaway! It was especially nice having bedrooms on 3 different floors. Each couple/family had privacy at night. We spent most of our time fishing or reading. Exactly the break we needed from 2020.

Excellent communication and stay
We stayed in February for a weekend of ice fishing and snowmobiling. Nice open floor plan for multi family rental. Booked for a weekend stay for 2 families. There were 5 adults and 3 kids. Nice very clean house with large finished basement that has bedroom, tv area, full bath. Main floor has bedroom and full bath and open kitchen/tv area great for meals and family games. Love that all the beds were queens. Loft has bed & couch as well as it’s own half bath. Radiant floor heating was nice. A couple of small concerns like coffee pot was broken, door lock broken and owner immediately responded and got it fixed. The property manager dropped off a new coffee maker that day! We made big dinners using the grill, oven, stove and pots and pans. It had everything. We also brought two suv/trucks both with 2 place snow mobile trailers and had no problems parking. The house sits in a small cove that opens up to the lake. Would definitely rent this place again in summer or winter.

Simply Wonderful
This was our third stay here and it never disappoints. From the time you walk through the door into the immaculate, bright, cozy, never want to leave house. We go as a family, there are six adults . My Husband, myself our Two Son's and their Wives and our three grandchildren. They are 14, 12, and 11. We have plenty of room to accommodate us so nicely. The two girls learned to kayak this year and had a blast. Our grandson was already a pro. They did a lot of swimming and frog catching and releasing . We rent a Pontoon boat from Merrill's Marina Located on this beautiful lake. So from family boat rides, to early morning fishing trips for the boys. Relaxing on the dock, Or privately sitting on the deck just listening to the eagles. Toasting marshmallows in the fire pit. We all love it here and hate to leave, but hope to return next summer. Great property!
We booked a few days here to do some ice fishing and just relax away from home. The home is absolutely pristine, very clean, beautiful and well maintained. The kitchen is well stocked with all utensils you need for your stay. It was our first time ice fishing Sebec and I will say it was an absolute blast! There are some great fishing spots just a few minute walk from the home and we had a great time fishing. Our wives and infants were happy and comfortable relaxing at the home while we were out. Unfortunately we ended up leaving a day early because of an issue with the heating system. Luckily there is a woodstove so we were able to get the chill out of the home with that. We let the owner know there was a problem and he immediately contacted a heating tech to come repair it. The tech showed up just a few hours later as we were heading out. If it was just a "guys trip" we probably would have just roughed it...but our wives were just worried about losing the heat at night with the babies in the house so we headed out. I only mentioned the issue with the heat to point out how quick and responsive the owner is. Things break...it happens. Its how the owner responded that matters to me. He very quickly sent someone out and reimbursed us the one lost night without issue. The home is in excellent shape and I would not worry about that happening again. Despite the issue with the heat we will absolutely be back. We try to do a few day trip to northern Maine each winter and have always stayed at different places but I think we will stay here each winter now. Thanks!

Peaceful and beautiful...with so many amenities!
We just completed a three-night stay at this house on Sebec Lake and couldn't have been more pleased. Everything in the house is up-to-date, in good working order, and spotlessly clean. There's three comfy bedrooms (although we only used one), two-and-a-half baths, and not one but TWO living rooms. We honestly had a hard time deciding between the super-comfy couches downstairs and the abundance of light and the fireplace upstairs. And if you love hangout/relaxation spaces like we do, you'll also enjoy that there's a spacious deck with a wood stove, a large enclosed porch with a giant grill, and a fire pit area in the spacious backyard. (If you're keeping track, that's THREE wood stoves/fireplaces, and YES, they leave you plenty of wood. It was a bit chilly in mid-October and we had one of the fireplaces going almost nonstop, and still barely put a dent in the wood supply.) The deck had more than enough seating and some holiday-like lights along the railing, which was a nice touch. (They keypad for these lights are hanging by the door, by the way.) The kitchen is large and has an assortment of appliances, including a large fridge/freezer, microwave, oven, dishwasher, and Keurig, among others. The kitchen table is a high-top that could fit about eight people comfortably, if I recall correctly. If you need to lots of civilization nearby, then this isn't the house for you. The closest proper grocery store is 30 minutes away and there really aren't any nearby attractions to speak of...but when you stock your car full of food & drink ahead of time and only wish to hike, bike, and otherwise be active outdoors (or relax indoors), then this is the perfect home away from home. Plus, there are two kayaks for use on the lake, which was peaceful and pristine, especially in the little cove in which the house is set. We packed a lot of necessities, but didn't end up using much of them because the house was so well-stocked with towels, sheets, soap, dishes, cooking utensils, etc. If you choose to stay at this house (we will again!), please take care of it. The Subernats sure do, and it shows!

Another Amazing Family Vacation
We sadly just got got back from our family vacation on Lake Sebec in Maine. This is our second year staying at Camp Subernat and it just does not get any better. They added a great new bedroom above a garage they just built you can rent as well if needed. All new screened in area under the upper deck a new new sofa since last year. Gosh! From the minute you walk in, so clean and welcoming. The only thing Campy about this place are the words above the door before you enter( Camp Subernat). We had some great days in and out of the water, boating , fishing swimming. Our Grandkids love to fish as well. We even had an amazing dinner at The Bear Point Marina on our last night. The wildlife from the nesting eagles, and deer grazing in the yard is just so wonderful. We all hated to leave your beautiful place. Thank You so very much we hope to make it for a third year! Make sure you take pictures of the house as you enter and exit
Long story short. Had a great first year. The second year, I was asked to pay for the "new scratches" on the table and walls, after we played board games the whole stay. Was accused of breaking a faucet and moving a bed. And was asked to pay for the screen door that was broken when we stayed there the first year. Ended up paying an extra cleaning fee for a mess that did not exist. The home looks very lovely, but when you get into it, you discover it feigns the bourgeois lifestyle they are aiming for and is actually occupied with several cheap pieces of furniture and some old couches. TL;DR Take MANY pictures of the house before and after your stay.

Below is guest’s review from 12/2016 at which point the guest loved our home! This year, however, this guest has caused few damages and left the house in dirty condition. Despite that, we did not charge the guest for any damages...he only got charged a small portion of an extra cleaning fee from the cleaning company that we hire. This was clearly stated in the contract and signed by the guest...unfortunately the guest is now upset and took it out on our review because he has not been invited back. The house was beautiful in every way, it was extremely clean and well maintained and came with all you would need to have a short stay there. (Towels toilet paper dishes etc.) The view from the deck was nothing short of breathtaking as the family of deer crossed the frozen like in the light morning snow. My friends and I went at the end of December, so we didn't get the summer experience but we enjoyed our stay so much we will likely be back in the summer. Quiet, peaceful, perfect!
This property is perfect! Everything you need is here which made traveling from PA so much easier. The ducks on the lake were entertaining to listen to. Two loons made their way to our end of the lake every morning but didn’t have anything to say. (I love the sound of loons.). We were able to travel to so many places within a two hourish drive. Acadia/Bar Harbor, Greenville (moose searching-saw two near Shirley) Monson( hiking), Bingham ( Atv Rental), Baxter State Park, and Wiscasset for the famous Red’s lobster roll ( get a side of scallops...omg!) In all, great property. If you are considering to rent this place....DO IT!

October Vacation
There isn't much more I can say about how fantastic Camp Subernat was that hasn't been mentioned many times in previous reviews. We were 3 couples who have traveled together before and it's a great luxury that everyone has their own bedroom and bathrooms. Really makes life much easier. All of the rooms in the house were very comfortable and well appointed. The house is much bigger than it appears in the photos....lot's of room. Couple of nights the guys were watching football upstairs and the gals took their wine and went down into the large spacious rec room and chatted for hours. We had fires every night....the firepit on the deck was used each night and we made one bonfire down in the yard which was a lot of fun. All the firewood was supplied...if you would had to have paid for the amount we burned it would have been expensive so this is a great benefit to this cabin. The view on the lake was beautiful.....early October and Maine was in full color, we lucked out. About 20 minutes from town and groceries...no big deal. All the houses in this part of Lake Sebec are beautiful....nothing run down or old. Good drives into Moosehead Lake/Bangor/Katahdin Iron Works/etc. Don't miss the B-52 memorial in Moosehead; sad, creepy and different all in one! HIGHLY recommend this cabin.

Great place
Stayed for a weekend while in town for a wedding. The house was clean and exactly as described. The view in the mornings was nice. The yard was perfect for our 4 year old to run around. Would definitely recommend.

relaxing in cabin with a lake veiw
Cabin has plenty of beds for guest and kids. Very clean and comfortable with all the amenities you will need to stay for as long as you like. Price's are very reasonable and rented a pontoon boat as well. Had a very relaxing week and cannot wait to go back maybe next year. Firewood for a camp fire outside was a nice add on for the grand kids to cook marsh mellows in the evenings. Fishing great for kids as well.

Family fun on Sebec Lake
In 2017 our family members from Colorado, Michigan and New Hampshire spent two weeks at 13 Flag Cove Rd. It was our 27th consecutive year renting on Sebec Lake. The House was impeccably clean and had all the amenities we needed. The automatic generator started immediately when the power went out briefly during the storm. There was plenty of hot water for showers. The washer and dryer were clean and functioned properly. The path to the dock was wide and barrier free; no roots to trip us. Strong dock with plenty of room for the boats Nice swim platform Lots of frogs and turtles for the kids to catch I rate 13 Flag Cove 5 Stars

Beautiful Home on Sebec Lake. Always nice visit the area and stay at this house.
This is a really nice house on Lake Sebec. Perfect for 6, 7 or 8 guests. We have stayed at other houses/camps along the lake and you can't go wrong with this choice. Enjoy your week there.
