Great cottage with lovely garden. Appreciated the loungers to lie in the shade of the apple tree after a day’s walking. Really nicely furnished and comfortable bed. Downstairs bathroom not so good for the elderly with steep stairs. Garden could be more dog secure. Excellent. ##### Michael R. We spent a wonderful, relaxing week in this beautiful, atmospheric cottage. The cottage itself is spacious, the garden is a gem (we had breakfast outside every day) and the location is perfect. It's rural enough to be very peaceful, but a stroll of a couple of miles along a very picturesque path takes you into Dorchester, with its restaurants and amenities. A tip for any visitors - the top-notch 'Yalbury Cottage' restaurant is about 50 yards along the road. It's well worth booking in advance of any holiday, as you'd be very fortunate to be able to secure a table at short notice. A beautiful, historic cottage with a lovely garden surrounded by countryside. No street lights so you could see the stars clearly. Heaven. Pity the weather was not good enough to sit out side with a cuppa or glass of wine. Well equipped, warm and comfortable. Local history was very interesting and well situated to visit local places of interest. Plenty of walks around - ideal for dog owners. No local shops, about 2 miles to Dorchester so you need to plan ahead slightly. ##### mags This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Melanie 4 Oct 2019 #### We loved the cottage. We loved the cottage. It was very homely and well equipped. It is a little way from shops etc but we were aware of this when we booked. We had a delivery from Sainsburys, who found the cottage easily. it is a lovely area - just a shame that the road is used as a rat run, but there is off road parking and we slept in the back. There is plenty of space inside and a lovely garden. ##### Melanie This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Stefanie 7 Sept 2019 #### We had a splendid time at the Old Post Office. We had a splendid time at the Old Post Office. The cottage itself is very charming, very old and very beautiful. It is quite large so that all members of the family can find their favourits spot. It is well equipped and we wouldn't have minded to have more rainy days in order to have more time for reading or browsing the books on the village history. The garden is charming, it looks lovely and it is great to sit outside and listen to the various birds. The surrounding is rural and we loved to discover it walking. We knew that Thomas Hardy's cottage is in walking distance, but we didn't know that his old school house is just the house opposite, great for all Hardy fans. Stinsford and the Kingston Maurward Estate with the animal farm and splendid gardens are just 10 mins walking - we could have spent the two weeks just in the near surrounding ... However, the countryside and especially the coast are beautiful and wild, the towns and villages are pictoresque, there are some really nice beaches, some really lonely and wild places, always amazing views and a lovely coffeeshop nearbye. In a nutshell: we had lovely two weeks, we did not imagine the cottage and location to be so very beautiful and we are already thinking of going again :) ##### Stefanie This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Liesbeth 5 Aug 2019 #### We enjoy de stay very much. We enjoy de stay very much. A lovely cottage and cosy garden. The beds are very good and de livingroom also cosy and comforteble. (watch out for the carpets on the floor, you can fall over it) The claenliness could be better. A lot of dust and de refrigerater was not good. The freezer was full of ice. We must defrost it. Parkingplace is to small voor modern cars. You must park on the road. ##### Liesbeth This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 8/10 Good #### Thomas 5 Aug 2019 #### We had a lovely family holiday staying at The Old Postoffice in Lower Bockhampton. We had a lovely family holiday staying at The Old Postoffice in Lower Bockhampton. It is a very characterful house, decorated in an eclectic style, but with everything you need - appliances, wifi, comfy beds etc. It was extremely peaceful and in a great location - a tiny village, but just 5 minutes into Dorchester and 15 to the beaches of Dorset. Highly recommended. ##### Thomas This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent #### mark 6 Jul 2019 #### W What a lovey cottage the old post office is we had a wonderful time every thing is on your doorstep the cottage has everything you need and a lovely garden to sit in thank you to the kind owners who after a mixup let us stay an extra night free of charge will definitely be booking for next year ##### mark ## Expedia's Latest Trends ### Hotels > [Carden Park](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Chester-Hotels-Carden-Park.h190780.Hotel-Information) > > [Hampton by Hilton London Gatwick Airport](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Gatwick-Hotels-Hampton-By-Hilton-London-Gatwick-Airport.h7234788.Hotel-Information) > > [Hampton by Hilton London Stansted Airport](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Stansted-Hotels-Hampton-By-Hilton-London-Stansted-Airport.h18464320.Hotel-Information) > > [Stratford Manor Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Stratford-Upon-Avon-Hotels-Stratford-Manor.h27936.Hotel-Information) > > [Ashford International Hotel & Spa](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Ashford-Hotels-Ashford-International-Hotel.h527123.Hotel-Information) > > [Retallack Resort](https://www.expedia.co.uk/St-Columb-Major-Hotels-Retallack-Resort.h4537229.Hotel-Information) > > [Bloc Hotel London Gatwick Airport](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Gatwick-Hotels-Bloc-Hotel-London-Gatwick-Airport.h6594190.Hotel-Information) > > [Sand Bay Holiday Village](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Weston-Super-Mare-Hotels-Sand-Bay-Holiday-Village.h11443695.Hotel-Information) > > [St Michael's Resort](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Falmouth-Hotels-St-Michaels-Resort.h2951426.Hotel-Information) > > [Crowne Plaza Stratford Upon Avon by IHG](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Stratford-Upon-Avon-Hotels-Crowne-Plaza-Stratford-Upon-Avon.h11307.Hotel-Information) > > [Hilton London Gatwick Airport](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Gatwick-Hotels-Hilton-London-Gatwick-Airport.h20753.Hotel-Information) > > [Norbreck Castle Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Blackpool-Hotels-Norbreck-Castle-Hotel.h6377.Hotel-Information) > > [Eastwell Manor, Champneys Hotel & Spa](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Ashford-Hotels-Eastwell-Manor.h905662.Hotel-Information) > > [Camelot Castle Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Tintagel-Hotels-Camelot-Castle-Hotel.h8083111.Hotel-Information) > > [Hollins Hall Hotel, Golf & Country Club](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Shipley-Hotels-Hollins-Hall-Hotel.h63744.Hotel-Information) > > [Chesford Grange Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Kenilworth-Hotels-Chesford-Grange.h920291.Hotel-Information) > > [Grand Burstin Hotel Folkestone](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Folkestone-Hotels-Grand-Burstin-Hotel-Folkestone.h1201483.Hotel-Information) > > [The Mill Hotel & Spa](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Chester-Hotels-The-Mill-Hotel-Spa.h1695656.Hotel-Information) > > [Village Hotel Manchester Ashton](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Ashton-Under-Lyne-Hotels-Village-Hotel-Manchester-Ashton.h1848975.Hotel-Information) > > [The Winchester Hotel & Spa](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Winchester-Hotels-The-Winchester-Hotel-Spa.h26080.Hotel-Information) > > [Hilton at St George's Park, Burton Upon Trent](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Burton-On-Trent-Hotels-Hilton-At-St-Georges-Park.h5094740.Hotel-Information) > > [Radisson Blu Hotel Manchester, Airport](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Manchester-Hotels-Radisson-Blu-Hotel-Manchester.h120016.Hotel-Information) > > [The Spa Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Royal-Tunbridge-Wells-Hotels-The-Spa-Hotel.h8849.Hotel-Information) > > [Hythe Imperial Hotel Spa & Golf](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Hythe-Hotels-Hythe-Imperial-Hotel-Spa-Golf.h9108.Hotel-Information) > > [The Rutland Arms Hotel, Bakewell, Derbyshire](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Bakewell-Hotels-The-Rutland-Arms-Hotel.h792056.Hotel-Information) > > [Harbour Beach Club & Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Salcombe-Hotels-Harbour-Beach-Club-Hotel-Spa.h2261933.Hotel-Information) > > [Fistral Beach Hotel and Spa - Adults Only](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Newquay-Hotels-Fistral-Beach-Hotel-And-Spa-Adults-Only.h1895493.Hotel-Information) > > [Worcester Whitehouse](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Worcester-Hotels-Worcester-Whitehouse.h18498.Hotel-Information) > > [Cotswolds Hotel & Spa](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Chipping-Norton-Hotels-Cotswolds-Hotel-Spa.h13106835.Hotel-Information)
