Established in 1933 by the Civilian Conservation Corps, the park contains several historic structures built by a collection of the country’s young unemployed men in the midst of the Great Depression. Follow the trail to the stone dam and the vast expanse of Lake Devil. This pretty 8-acre (3.2-hectare) lake has several jetties and rental facilities for canoes and pedal boats.
Overlooking the lake is a café and a swimming pool. Stop by the park’s store to buy picnic supplies and souvenirs. Make the most of your trip to Devil’s Den State Park by staying overnight in one of the cabins or campsites. Historic stone cabins are fitted with a wood fire and kitchen facilities. Pitch a tent at a woodland campsite only accessible on foot or on horseback, or stay at one of the park’s RV sites.
Devil’s Den State Park and its visitor centre are open year-round for free. The swimming pool and rental facilities have closures in winter. Call the visitor centre to ask about the campsite and cabin reservation fees.
