Very friendly service and excellent location in Old Town Shangri-La. It requires a short walk from the drop-off point because cars are not allowed in the alley where the entrance is located. The cobblestone street/alley makes luggage a challenge, but the staff will come out if notified to assist. The complimentary breakfast is not lavish, but had everything I needed...both Asian and Western. Rooms are clean and decorated in traditional ethnic style. WiFi is good. Hotel rooms are all centered around a pavilion. The staff is very friendly: they will walk you to places in the old city if you ask, arrange for taxis, recommend activities to do. They do a lot of small things that add up and make your experience very elegant. Food is clean but it is not up to Western standards--I'm used to eating Chinese cuisine, so I'm not bothered by this. They do have Western cuisine, but they are not many options. You can still feel the tragic loss of buildings, so during our stay, their was still lots of construction happening.
