About this property
Skiers View: less than 10 mins to state parks + big view/deck/grill etc
Nestled in the heart of Canaan Valley, this charming 4-bedroom cabin-chalet offers a unique and tranquil escape for your next vacation. Skier's View greets you with artisinal rustic charm, offset with modern conveniences. The two-sofa living room offers the possibility of a crackling fire in a glass-front wood stove/fireplace, perfect for unwinding after a day of adventure and-or turn on the large screen smart T.V. for game day or favorite movie.
Gather your loved ones and enjoy the chiminea-outdoor smores station, immediately outside the doorstep. Stay connected with the free WiFi, and send the kids or kids-at-heart in your group downstairs for foosball or another gaming or movie night smart TV w/ satellite/cable channels.
Well equipped kitchen means you can make just about anything at your home away from home. We also are usually well-stocked with starter drinks, coffee pods, spices, candies, and firewood.
Explore the nearby Timberline Resort just 7 minutes away, or Canaan Valley Resort State Park, just an 11-minute drive, or venture to the stunning Blackwater Falls State Park, a 16-minute drive from your haven. For a true wilderness experience, the Dolly Sods Wilderness Area is only an 8-minute drive away (if you know the secret way to get there, which I can share,) Also, feel free to book a spa treatment at Canaan Valley Resort State Park, or use their indoor pool/spa area for a very nominal fee, or their outdoor pool in summer for a similarly low fee. Ice skating and tubing in the winter at Canaan and sledding at Blackwater Falls State Park.
Back at the cabin-chalet, you'll find a fully stocked kitchen, complete with a stove, oven, large refrigerator, and all the necessary appliances to whip up delicious meals. Enjoy your culinary creations at the dining table(s), or step outside and fire up the grill for an al fresco dining experience on the large picnic table and Adirondack chairs.
Unwind in the comfort of your home away from home, where you'll find essentials like towels, basic soaps, shampoo, hair dryer and hair curler. With a washing machine and dryer, you can keep your clothes fresh throughout your stay. Embrace the great outdoors with the porch, chiminea-fire pit, and outdoor play area, or challenge your family to a game of foosball in the game room.
Canaan Valley/Timberline/Davis/Thomas area has so much more to offer, which I am happy to share with a specially prepared guest sheet for all who book Skiers View.

Charming and spacious house with a wonderful balcony view to the mountains. Close to many excellent hikes, as well as the fun towns of Davis and Thomas. I've been to the area several times in recent years but this was the nicest place I've stayed. Highly recommend!
This was such a special weekend - the house was perfect for big group meals and board games. Fantastic location and incredible view. Host was very kind. A wonderful stay!
Great location in between Davis and Canaan Valley/ Timberline ski resorts. Loved that we could go to both areas easily and then Thomas just few more miles down the road. Awesome hot tub and plenty of space. Great communication from the host. We loved our stay!
Me and my partner stayed here for a long weekend with the pups. The view and location are great. You’re centralized between dolly sods and Blackwater falls. The price is beyond reasonable for such a cute cabin with an amazing view. The host was extremely responsive and helpful. We’d highly recommend this property and we will def be back
We had a really nice stay along with our dog. It was nice to be close to natural areas to explore like Blackwater Falls SP, Dolly Sods/Bear Rocks, and Seneca Rocks. It was rainy and dreary due to the tropical storm and set the scene for a wonderful lazy long weekend for relaxing in the hot tub, napping, and making good food. It is not easy to find a location like this that is dog friendly. Thanks for a wonderful stay.
Private location, nice view out the back deck and porch. Beds were comfortable, linens were clean, plenty of towels. Served the purpose for us after reservations elsewhere were cancelled last minute due to a water issue. Some things are a bit dated and in need of repair, but overall good and homey. Very convenient to Timberline. Maybe goes without saying in the area, but if going during the winter with the snow, make sure you have a 4x4 to get up the road and driveway.

The location of the cabin was great
We had a blast out and about.
Our overall impression of mountainous beauty cannot be understated. The amenities and charm of the small town of Davis harkens back to a forgotten time of simplicity and neighborly care. The nearbyhorseback trails and petting zoo provided a commune with the natural world that we craved in this colorful time of year and the close hiking trails and waterfalls are worth every step of the way. We had a wonderful time and are grateful for our host, whose email on local attractions and food helped to shape our 5 day trip. This chalet is a Cant Miss.
The views are what make this property so very amazing! The kitchen/living room area is large and spacious. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking. Colleen was very responsive when any issue came up. We loved the fact that the road leading up to the house was not overly steep and there was ample parking. We would definitely come again!
The cabin was nice. The hot tub cover was broken so it didn’t really maintain the temps it needed to after skiing all day. The kitchen and sitting area are huge. Showers need to be quick because the hot water doesn’t last long for 4 people so plan accordingly. Would come back again for sure. Communication with owner was top notch.
This house was a gem. Price point was excellent for what was offered. The house was equipt with everything we needed. We were not bothered with having to bring our own towels and linens. The towels and linens were very nice. The view was amazing and the host was very thorough and informative and responded to all our needs. 10/10 recommend if you are wanting to visit this area.
This is a really great cabin, with lots of room. My daughter loved the tree themed room, this is a great place for kids and maybe 2-3 couples. Definitely one of the better cabins we've stayed at in the area. The view is really the best part, which I'm sure is gorgeous in the summer and winter.
Hot tub was nice, and there was plenty of fire wood. They definitely have all the essentials except for shampoo/conditioner (you can easily buy some in town if you're like me and forgot). I really appreciate the abundance of towels.
If you like very firm box spring mattresses, and I know some people do, you'll be fine but my spine does not unfortunately.
We had a wonderful stay at Skiers View. The home worked perfectly for our group of 5 ranging from 20 to 79. Plus our lab! Plenty of space, clean, good beds, stocked kitchen. The downstairs offered privacy and fun for college age adults who had online classes still. Access to parking and in/out of house was great for the 79 year old, even though it was unseasonably warm and no ice/snow on roads or steps, this was a worry for me. We had an emergency trip to hospital and were very pleased with care we received in Keyser. Location is perfect for skiing, the falls, nature watching in the field. Thanks Colleen!

great location and views
The house cleaners arrived 15 minutes before our check-in time, so we watched them clean for 2 hours! They were apologetic and were really thorough, but it was unfortunate that the house was not ready for us. The address is incorrect as listed - so please put in 186 - not 6 as the home address. The baseboard in the downstairs bedroom with bunk beds does not work at all. Also more info about the wood stove would be helpful - like how do we know if the flue is open (is there a place to open the damper, etc). As others have said, the cover for the hot tub is broken and it is difficult to remove and put back, especially with the snow and ice cover we encountered. Despite all this, the home is comfortable and in a great location for winter activities at White Grass or Canaan. We would definitely rent this home again.
We made this reservation on a whim. Booked it and checked in the same day. Read all the reviews and reached out to the host to see if the 2 complaints were resolved. One was the hot tub didn’t work and the host couldn’t get it fixed right away. So, first off the Hot tub did work beautifully. But I just wonder if the person making that complaint has ever tried to get any work done on the very day you call. That was a bit of an unrealistic idea. The other complaint was the WiFi didn’t work. Mind you, you are in the mountains but that being said the WiFi work perfectly, never went out and it snowed everyday we were there with 60 mile an hour gusts. There was plenty of fire wood to stay toasty warm, wonderful linens on the bed we slept in. Place is close to both ski resorts and you can see them both from the deck. Also, the drive was plowed everyday and the porch was even shoveled. Host was very responsive and even checked in to make sure we were all settled in. We would definitely go back.
The house was what we would expect from a short-term rental. It was clean; the beds were of moderate quality. The kitchen was fairly well-stocked for the way our family cooks on vacation. The living room is cozy and one sofa is fairly comfortable. The other sofa is beautiful piece of work, but not made for comfort and relaxation. We loved the view through the living room windows and enjoyed the deck with Adirondack chairs off the living room.
