Wonderful

The house was well appointed and in good condition. The hot tub was an excellent amenity and the view was fantastic. The only detraction was the driveway, we were unprepared for how treaturous it was to navigate. My husbands truck is 4 wheel drive and we were able to navigate, but it was terrifying.
We had a wonderful snowy week! The incredible panoramic views of the valley, the wood-burning fireplace, the hot tub on the porch in the snow that was plenty big and super hot were all amazing. The host went above and beyond by digging out our car in the snow and shoveling the steps when we requested that they bring us a snow shovel. They called the HOA for us to put down some ash and gravel on the incredibly steep snowy road. If you do stay here in the winter, take their car requirements seriously. Our all wheel drive Highlander was not sufficient to get us in and out during the snow. We couldn’t even get out to get to the ski slopes during the peak of the storm.
In general, good location, we stayed with two kids and had to split up to sleep with each kid, loft mattress appears to be old and we kept rolling into one spot, even with my 2.5 year old, 30 pound child. If you are staying at this place, pick basement bed, it’s cool in there and mattress is much better.
This was a great spot for a quick weekend trip from Ohio. We missed the peak fall colors by one week, but still got in some great hikes in Dolly Sods. Property is as advertised and is probably great for winter skiing! Hot tub was a nice treat, especially on a clear star filled night. Easy check in/ check out.

House smelled moldy when we got there. Also is not a 3 bedroom house. Only 1 shower. Others are tubs. Also is in a densely populated area. Not exactly bad but was a lil surprised.
This was a really beautiful home near both Davis and Thomas and the ski areas. We loved the hot tub and well-stocked kitchen - lots of pots and pans, good knives (a rare find in a rental home), and the basic spices. We cooked a lot so the kitchen was very important to us. The one downside is that this cabin said it was 3 bedrooms and sleeps 6 but two rooms do not have doors and one bed is a very terrible sofa bed. It seems like they could get a real bed and mattress up there for guests or just edit the listing to say that the cabin only really sleeps 4. As I was there with a friend group we split the cost and it was really unfair that some got a real bed and 2 people had to suffer from back pain afterward. If you're traveling with 4 adults and maybe two young spry kids that don't care about mattresses, you'll be fine. But otherwise, I wouldn't recommend this place for 6 adults.

BAD MOLD/MILDEW SMELL. NOT A 3 BEDROOM
This house is not a 3 bedroom, nor does it have 3 full bathrooms. There are not two master suites.
As soon as you walk in, the smell of mold/mildew hits you hard and it doesn't go away. We had to keep all the windows open to combat this smell during our stay but still, it's horrible. If you have allergies to mold DO NOT RENT!
1) The master suite is on the bottom floor and it has a bathroom with a bathtub but NO shower. There is mold and mildew growing on the baseboards and it is definitely hazardous to breathe in there. This room is the only proper bedroom. The bed is cheap and very uncomfortable.
2. The 2nd "bedroom" is an open loft that looks down into the living room. Although it has a door that closes from the hallway, there is zero privacy in this room because of how it opens to the living space below. The bed is cheap and uncomfortable. There is no bathroom attached to this "bedroom". There is a bathroom in the hallway with a bathtub but NO shower.
3. The third bedroom is what they label "the eagles nest". You have to climb a very steep and narrow spiral metal staircase with triangular carpeted floating stairs to get to it. There is no door that closes. There is a pull out couch up there and a small box TV with a VCR attached. The mattress on the pull out is like laying on metal springs. There was no bedding available for this makeshift bed but it was so terribly uncomfortable no one could sleep up there anyway. Bring an air mattress if you have one, otherwise, the floor is your best bet.
There is a bathroom on the main level (living room/kitchen) with a walk-in shower. It's very inconvenient for 3 adults to share a shower that is not close to the bedrooms.
When they say this house requires a 4 wheel drive in the winter they mean it. It almost requires a 4 wheel drive in the summer, especially if its muddy. It's on a steep hill (Hiker's Challenge Rd) and getting into the driveway is tricky at first.
The couches were very worn and sunken. Dining room chairs were wobbly. Dated furniture all around.
The fridge is tiny. There is no pantry and limited cabinets to use for food storage.
The pros were the jacuzzi and wrap around double decks.

Weekend Getaway
We stayed in this property for a long weekend. The location is great, close to local attractions and the property is safe and secure. The view is beautiful as well. The house had all the amenities as listed, but we were disappointed on the cleanliness. The lower level had a very bad musty smell. The hot tub worked but the water was very dirty. The property needs some maintenance and upgrades as well. We would love to re-visit the area but would likely stay at another property next time.
The location was perfect to be able to enjoy nearby activities in Canaan Valley and Blackwater Falls State Park. The home was cozy and comfortable. We were a bit surprised that the home location is part of a gated community and not more remote as it appeared in the photos, but we should have checked the address more carefully. We loved the outdoor hot tub and enjoyed the fireplace after a busy day outdoors.
The house was a great gathering place for our family and friends staying nearby. The multiple decks were lovely, the view fabulous, and we were close to many great hiking spots. We would definitely stay here again.
Overall good experience. Only downside was the smell of methane coming from bathroom drains when it rains which made house have a not so pleasant smell. Restaurants in area not the best so grilling at the cabin is really best meal we had. Close to Blackwater falls and whitewater rafting. Quiet neighborhood.

Mountain side getaway
I would have given this a better review but...our check in process was terrible. We were traveling with a 4 year old. Our drive to the property was almost 5 hours. Check in was advertised as 4. We arrive at the office at 430 to find that Our home hadn’t even been cleaned yet because of the snow. Well this is a mountain community built around a ski resort so the fact that they don’t know how to deal with snowy conditions was not a reasonable enough excuse. Regardless. Our unit wasn’t cleaned until 6 pm. Very disappointed.
