We had a great week with our family of five. The house is very well equipped and comfortable. Great views over the lake from the house. The area is quite secluded (nearest super market 35 minute drive) but we were very well prepared for the situation, thanks to the elaborate information Catriona sent us beforehand. Lots of nice activities and excursions to do in the region. We very much enjoyed the Seafari and also the Kintail Birds of Prey is a unique experience. ##### Kiki R. Spacious, comfortable, well-appointed house with views of the Loch Awe. Cottage growing from a fairyland, lost in the Scottish wilderness, where magic is just there in a reach of hand... Extremely clean, comfortable and well equipped. Catriona, who is the cottage owner, is exceptionally generous and warm-hearted. She lent us rescue jackets for a whole week to be able to use our inflatable boat and didn't charge us for one more night! That never happens!! I would highly recommend it for family or a group of friends. We will go back there for sure! See you soon Highlands and Catriona ! ##### Allan Stayed 6 nights in Jul 2021 ### 10/10 Excellent #### amanda h. 24 Oct 2021 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### A fabulous place with a stunning view... The cottage is of an excellent standard, well equipped and clean. The sun room is where we spent most of our time, when, we were in the accommodation, taking in the wildlife around, the star of the show for us, was watching an Osprey diving for fish on the loch. The cottage is well placed for a totally relaxing holiday or if you want Oban is just over an hours drive and Inverary a lovely town around 40 minutes drive. Catriona (owner) met us after our arrival and was very informative and always available if needed. The cottage is well laid out and comfortable, with the added luxury of two bathrooms (one being a shower room), additionally it is all on one level for anyone who has mobility issues. Overall a high standard accommodation, with gorgeous outlooks, for a peaceful and tranquil holiday. ##### Chris W. Spotlessly clean, very well equipped and comfortable. Wheelchair ramp and space in cottage great for disabled person to get around. Owner very helpful. One of the best cottages we have stayed at. Lower Barr-beithe cottage was more like a home form home than a holiday cottage. ##### Thibault N. Our reception was very friendly. The area by the loch was very peaceful and quite relaxing, though quite secluded - meaning that the access was rather difficult, through a narrow road. Nonetheless, the premises' charm was also due to this isolation. The surroundings offered lovely walks through woodlands and sheep pastures, with a beautiful view over the loch. We really enjoyed our stay! ##### Jean-François F. Loved sitting in the sun lounge enjoying the view & watching the lambs frolicking in the fields. Outside is the perfect place for a barbecue - weather permitting!! After many years still finding new places to go & things to do within a days drive. This time round drove down to Loch Katrine in the Trossachs & had a sail on the steamship "Sir Walter Scott" - very enjoyable - would do it again. Enjoyed meals out at Ardbrecknish, Glen Orchy Lodge.Dalmally & The George Hotel, Inveraray. If you enjoy a wee dram Inveraray now has 2 whisky shops - both well worth a visit. We hope to come back to Barr Beithe Lower for many years to come. There is a special atmosphere here. Thank you to the owners who always make us feel very welcome & do their best to ensure that we enjoy our stay. ##### Jackie D. The cottage was beautifully furnished and well appointed with top of the range items. Three adults shared this three bedroom cottage (sleeps 5) and had a wonderful holiday. Plenty to see and do or just relax and enjoy the view. I cannot rate this particular accommodation highly enough. Ron Emerson. ##### beryl e. We have stayed at Barr-beithe lower on two occasions in the last year, once in June 2015 and the second time in April 2016. At this time of year the lambing season is in full swing and children and adults alike will love watching the lambs have their "silly hour" when their acrobatics are a joy to watch. May is also bluebell time when the whole area carpeted in blue. The cottage itself is very well presented and scrupulously clean. A welcome tray when you arrive is a nice touch and Ile's shortbread is to die for. The views of Loch Awe seem to change every few minutes and can hold you enthralled. You feel very much part of the Blarghour Family with all the locals waving and greeting you. Amongst the places we visited were Inveraray Castle and Jail and we took the ferry from Oban to Mull. Cruachan Power Station is also well worth a visit and demonstrates an amazing feat of engineering. Must all mention the tasty fish supper at Tarbert, Loch Fyne. This holiday can be as quiet or as busy as you prefer and we can't wait for our next visit. ##### Gordon S. It is very well equipped, clean, comfortable and warm. The views out over the loch are stunning and the feeling of complete isolation and silence was exactly what we were looking for. The walks into the hills and farm land surrounding the cottage are completely open and accessible. You could do a completely different walk everyday from your door step without having to step into the car. There is also enough lawn around the cottage for the kids to play. A wonderful family holiday. ##### Rufus L. The cottage was clean and in a lovely location looking over the loch. We could happily spend all day sitting in the sunroom looking at the view. The kitchen had everything we needed and the beds were comfy. There was no shortage of things to do. There was an information pack in the cottage with lots of ideas. From the cottage you can walk on the farm and also along the loch road. We saw some deer when we were out walking. We walked along Crinnan canal tow path and visited the standing stones and burial cairns that were near by which were worth a visit. Inveraray Jail was very good. Had a lovely lunch at the George Hotel in Inveraray. visited Oban distillery and sampled their whiskey. Very nice!. We also drove through Glen Coe which was fantastic and did a trip to Taviallich and had lunch at the Taviallich Inn. Well worth a visit particularly if you like sea food. Catriona, the owner made us feel very welcome and was happy to talk to us. There was a cup of tea set up for when we arrived, which was much appreciated, and the home made shortbread was really, really nice. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and will go back again. This is a fabulous part of Scotland. ##### David B. We went to have a quiet week away . Every thing was as the owner said it would be. Firstly we had very quick response times from owners. They were very courteous and obliging. The directions that were provided were very accurate and took us straight to their door. The property was for selfcatering which is what we wanted. Everything we needed was provided. The kitchen was fully fitted out including washing machine microwave. The house was very roomy and was nice and warm. We were there after snow so the warmth was great. The linen ,bedding was provided and was of good quality. If you're after stunning Loch Views and georgeous sunset evenings then this is the place to go. We went for walks in the countryside most days. Within an hour you are in Oban with the opportunity to then take the calmac ferry to Isle of Mull which we did and that was also well worth it. The property is a little isolated so you need to bring own food or travel to Oban for Tesco .however smaller places like Dalmally 8 miles away has a small supermarket for supplies. We had no internet access but that was a plus for us as we are usually on technology all the time . A break was what we needed. I would thoroughly recommend this property and we will definitely be back in the future. The rates were very reasonable and great value for money. Thanks Catriona for a great week. ## Expedia's Latest Trends ### Hotels > [DoubleTree by Hilton Dunblane Hydro](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Dunblane-Hotels-DoubleTree-By-Hilton-Dunblane-Hydro.h520461.Hotel-Information) > > [Claymore Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Arrochar-Hotels-CLAYMORE-HOTEL.h57956439.Hotel-Information) > > [Marine Troon](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Troon-Hotels-The-Marine-Hotel.h554927.Hotel-Information) > > [The Stirling Highland Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Stirling-Hotels-The-Stirling-Highland-Hotel.h558482.Hotel-Information) > > [Fairmont St Andrews](https://www.expedia.co.uk/St-Andrews-Hotels-Fairmont-St-Andrews.h663479.Hotel-Information) > > [Dunkeld House Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Dunkeld-Hotels-Dunkeld-House-Hotel.h520427.Hotel-Information) > > [Apex City Quay Hotel & Spa](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Dundee-Hotels-Apex-City-Quay-Hotel-Spa.h897382.Hotel-Information) > > [Adamton Country House Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Prestwick-Hotels-Adamton-Country-House-Hotel.h3277768.Hotel-Information) > > [Hampton by Hilton Dundee City Centre](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Dundee-Hotels-Hampton-By-Hilton-Dundee-City-Center.h15438290.Hotel-Information) > > [JA Mar Hall Scotland](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Bishopton-Hotels-Mar-Hall-Golf-Spa-Resort.h1077249.Hotel-Information) > > [Loch Long Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Arrochar-Hotels-Loch-Long-Hotel.h16270964.Hotel-Information) > > [Fonab Castle Hotel & Spa](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Pitlochry-Hotels-Fonab-Castle-Hotel-Spa.h5991409.Hotel-Information) > > [The Victoria Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Kirkcaldy-Hotels-The-Victoria-Hotel.h4482159.Hotel-Information) > > [The George Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Inveraray-Hotels-The-George-Hotel.h24458716.Hotel-Information) > > [Inglewood House and Spa](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Alloa-Hotels-Inglewood-House-And-Spa.h12709295.Hotel-Information) > > [The Caledonian Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Fort-William-Hotels-The-Caledonian-Hotel.h13407571.Hotel-Information) > > [Glynhill Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Renfrew-Hotels-Glynhill-Hotel.h868692.Hotel-Information) > > [Holiday Inn Express Glasgow Airport by IHG](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Paisley-Hotels-Holiday-Inn-Express-Glasgow-Airport.h519994.Hotel-Information) > > [Moness Resort](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Aberfeldy-Hotels-Moness-Resort.h2955414.Hotel-Information) > > [The Great Western Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Oban-Hotels-The-Great-Western-Hotel.h13407325.Hotel-Information) > > [The Pitlochry Hydro Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Pitlochry-Hotels-The-Pitlochry-Hydro-Hotel.h1854094.Hotel-Information) > > [Dakota Eurocentral](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Motherwell-Hotels-Dakota-Eurocentral.h1516635.Hotel-Information) > > [The Waverley Castle Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Melrose-Hotels-The-Waverley-Castle-Hotel.h13431010.Hotel-Information) > > [Cameron House on Loch Lomond](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Alexandria-Hotels-Cameron-House-On-Loch-Lomond.h980306.Hotel-Information) > > [Hampton by Hilton Hamilton Park](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Hamilton-Hotels-Hampton-By-Hilton-Hamilton-Park.h33810078.Hotel-Information) > > [Wyndham Duchally Country Estate](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Auchterarder-Hotels-CLC-Duchally-Country-Estate-Hotel-Resort.h79023.Hotel-Information) > > [Riverside Lodge Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Irvine-Hotels-Riverside-Lodge-Hotel.h8519.Hotel-Information) > > [Arrochar Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Arrochar-Hotels-Arrochar-Hotel.h1423391.Hotel-Information) > > [Holiday Inn Glasgow Airport by IHG](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Paisley-Hotels-Holiday-Inn-Glasgow-Airport.h809324.Hotel-Information) > > [DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Strathclyde](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Bellshill-Hotels-DoubleTree-By-Hilton-Glasgow-Strathclyde.h520473.Hotel-Information)
