Daimiel is one of the oldest towns in Castile-La Mancha and an important wine oasis in natural surroundings with great ecological value.

Proof of this is the archaeological site of Motilla del Azuer, where the oldest well in the Peninsula can be found. There’s also an area dedicated to the reproduction of a traditional country house of La Mancha.
The oldest religious building in Daimiel is the Parish Church of Santa Maria La Mayor, a Gothic church from the 14th century. Inside is the grave of Joaquín Ibáñez Cuevas, hero from the Spanish War of Independence. Be sure to take in the capitols, thought to represent symbols related to the Knights Templar. The most striking ones include the rabbit, the siren, the immutable face and the serpent.
The town is also home to a unique type of wetland ecosystem in Spain: the Tablas de Daimiel National Park.
