The house was perfect for us. The location was close to so many places we wanted to visit. We really enjoyed our 7 nights and would definitely stay again.
This home and it's surrounding scenery are absolutely stunning! The home is well set up and there is plenty of indoor and outdoor space to enjoy. We had a girls weekend there and we were all more than comfortable there!
Great location. The cabin was clean and the firepit was well maintained. Our kids loved to play in the forest behind the cabin. I would book this place again if I return to the Black Hills.
This house was perfect for our family of 5. It was close to town with a park right at the end of the road. Grocery store was 7 minutes away. The backyard sold us on this place. Perfect to unwind have a fire and look at the stars
This Cabin/home is beautiful with a beautiful setting in the woods of the Black Hills. It was comfortable for our family of 7 adults. With one bunk bed to spare! I will recommend it to any of my friends going to Mt Rushmore
The house is beautiful and in a great location. Plenty of beds for our party of seven but enough seating in living and dining room. Very clean but need better lighting in bedrooms. Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely home.
Had a great 2 days. It was close to mount Rushmore and crazy horse. Fell in love with South Dakota and this place was part of it. Very quiet stay and had a deer come right next to the house. We would definitely stay here again.
We came into town for the Buffalo Roundup so needed a large house to accommodate everyone. This place was GREAT. Wonderful location in Custer but away from everyone. So peaceful. The house had everything we could have wanted and was very clean. Wish we could have stayed longer.
Check in and check out we’re super easy. Plenty of room for everyone. Loved the deck for morning coffee. Close to everything we wanted to do. Bonfires at night were relaxing. The big grill on the deck was perfect for dinners. 👍
We've stayed un the Black Hills many times, and this place was special for its location in the woods, with "caves" for the kids to explore, a great covered deck we enjoyed breakfast, lunch, and dinner on (so awesome! ), and a fire ring we used many nights. The upper level includes a nice kitchen and 2 bedrooms which we very nice. The lower level had a great bedroom for the kids, and a bedroom in a more basement feeling/smelling location, with the washer and dryer and water heater sharing the space. But the outside made up for that. It really felt like getting away; we spent more time at the cabin than any we've stayed at before.
We had a four night stay in this beautiful home. The kitchen is well supplied with everything you may need to do your own cooking. Our favorite gathering spot was the covered deck. It was nicely furnished with table and chairs and had a large gas grill. The Master bedroom is very large and the secondary bedrooms are small. We could make this work but it has the potential to be an issue for some adult groups. Our one disappointment was the state of the living room furniture. There was an electric recliner that did not work, a floor lamp that did not work and none of us were able to sit for any length of time on the sofa due to it being uncomfortable. Gratefully, we were outdoors for much of our stay and for the most part enjoyed this home. The location is also great as it sits outside of Custer just a couple of miles. We had great access to the sites of the Black Hills.
The cabin was beautiful, very well stocked, and in a convenient location for exploring all the Black Hills. We appreciated the helpful notebook with clear instructions and the easy check-in process. We absolutely loved our stay here! The only downside was a sewer-like odor in the downstairs bedrooms, which unfortunately made sleeping there very difficult.
The accommodations were great as we made it up to Custer for our 26th ride on the Mikkelson Trail trek!!!
The 4th time we have used Evans Dacha and it did not disappoint.
Very quiet escape in the Black Hills. Great location for attractions from Keystone/Mt Rushmore and south, including Wind Cave and Hot Springs. Great for outside grilling and gathering. Not a negative, but there is not a lot of flat yard if looking to play outside games. Also not a negative but a caution if staying with very young children, the bunk bed bedroom is downstairs and steps down are slippery wood. Overall, a great stay and would stay here again.

Beautiful newly constructed home only a couple of miles from Custer
My family stayed here with two other families. It accommodated the 10 of us perfectly. It is in a great location, just a couple miles out of town in the middle of the beautiful black hills. We rented ATVs for 1 day and spent the other 2 days sight seeing. Couldn't ask for better!
Tried getting a hold of the Host so that I didn't have to say this on VRBO. This house is misrepresented on the site--not sure how it received so many rave reviews. House was dirty. Master bath shower smell was revolting. Bedding and all rugs need washed for EACH new guest rental, and it's obvious this is rarely done. Pillows were terrible, and all bedding needs replaced--it's terribly worn. Fans broken--supposedly this was to take place of A/C--which it couldn't have, because of the lack of screens in the basement rooms, and lack of available plug-in in upstairs queen bedroom. One towel per person is inadequate.Happy to speak to the owner for clarification on all the complaints. I hope the host was unaware of the shape of this property. Most important rule for host: Be Your Guest.
Overall we enjoyed our stay, but some improvements could be made to the rental house. 1. A hand rail needs to be installed on the other side of the staircase because the stairs are dangerous where you make the curve going down. 2. More seating needs to be provided in the living room. A hard wooden bench is worthless! 3. The big hole at the edge of the driveway is dangerous and needs flags or cones put around it. 1 & 3 are possible law suits waiting to happen! We did love the serenity of the property. Just a few suggestions before someone gets injured.
