About this property
Gîte du Promeneur - CUSSY EN MORVAN
- Martine and Dimitri (an accomplished trail runner, passionate about hiking and mountain biking, and intimately familiar with the area) welcome you to their charming, authentic, traditional Morvan house, dating back to 1874 and carefully restored (a typical former farmhouse). Nestled in a peaceful setting on a quiet lane on a west-facing hillside, it lies in the heart of a tranquil little rural hamlet immersed in the unspoiled, gently rolling mountain countryside (a protected ZNIEFF area due to its rich flora and fauna). Perfectly preserved and steeped in history (located near the old Roman road that once connected Autun to Orléans), this picturesque village enjoys a soothing landscape of pure nature and greenery (offering the rare privilege of observing wildlife), tucked away in a bucolic valley of wooded meadows and beautiful forests, in the middle of the vast forest of the Morvan massif (and the Regional Natural Park). The surrounding area is breathtakingly beautiful and utterly rejuvenating, perfect for leisurely walks or mountain biking. Located 7 km from the charming market town of Anost, perched at an altitude of 550m in a sublime setting, Anost is home to numerous artists (visual artists, sculptors, writers, photographers, musicians, etc.). It boasts a variety of small shops and services (including a mini-market), a leisure center (with a lovely lake for swimming), and notable heritage sites (a 12th-century Romanesque chapel and church housing the famous "Recumbent Figures of Anost," a 13th-century masterpiece listed as a Historical Monument). The cottage offers excellent comfort, with a spacious living area and cozy bedrooms nestled under the eaves, creating a charming, cabin-like atmosphere. A warm, "country chic" style with contemporary touches and a hint of Mediterranean influence, blending tradition and modernity in a delightful dialogue with the original character of the property (stone fireplace and walls, exposed beams, brick and wood lintels, terracotta tiles). Full of charm and character. A cozy and inviting atmosphere. A pleasant enclosed garden, home to a cherry tree and an apple tree (fruit picking is possible during your stay), complete with a large terrace shaded in summer. Composition: Detached house on 2 levels. Wi-Fi (fiber optic). Heat pump heating + wood-burning stove. Air conditioning in the bedrooms. 1st floor (accessed via a small path leading up from the garden and parking area): living room/kitchen/lounge (with a 105x180cm sofa bed), shower room (shower/WC). 2nd floor: 2 bedrooms (one double bed 140x200cm / one two single beds 90x190cm). Garden (170m² / gently sloping) + terrace + bicycle storage + private parking. Small shops including a mini-market 7 km away. Supermarket 16 km away. Complete rejuvenation and a change of scenery in the heart of the Morvan Regional Natural Park! This charming, authentic traditional Morvan house, dating back to 1874, has been carefully renovated into a peaceful and charming gîte. Adorned with a lovely 170m² enclosed garden, it sits nestled in a tranquil, picturesque little rural hamlet, 7 km from the charming, typical market town of Anost (with numerous amenities including a mini-market and a leisure center with a swimming lake). Enjoy absolute peace and quiet in the heart of the unspoiled, gentle mountain countryside (protected as a ZNIEFF area for its rich flora and fauna), nestled in a bucolic valley of wooded meadows, surrounded by forests, in the very heart of the massif and its vast, wild forest – a bucolic setting of greenery and gentle nature. An ultra-privileged location on the routes of the mythical GTMC mountain bike route (Grand Traversée du Massif Central), various "natural" footpaths (connected in a network to several marked "green walks") as well as the Romanesque churches circuit, 1 km from the renowned GRP of the "Grand Tour du Massif du Morvan", 2 km from the GR13, 2 km from a marked cycle route in "all-terrain" version connected to the Green Way "from Morvan to the Vineyards", 10 km from the passage of the "Cycloroute71" (Tour de Saône-et-Loire by bike) and about forty kilometers from the first vineyards of the Couchois (adjacent to the famous Côtes de Beaune & Hautes Côtes de Beaune) crossed by the "Route des Grands Vins" which extends the illustrious "Route des Grands Crus" (traveling through the eminent wine villages of Puligny-Montrachet, Pommard, Meursault…). Prime location in the heart of Burgundy and the magnificent protected and historically rich territory of Autunois-Morvan, steeped in legends and mysteries, rich in a very rare historical heritage and absolutely magnificent landscapes, nestled on the border of Nièvre (and the territory of the "Great Lakes of Morvan") very close to Côte d'Or, not far from Chalonnais and Pays Beaunois. 19 km from Autun (a designated "City of Art and History" boasting 2000 years of human presence and a truly exceptional heritage / all amenities on site & a very high level of sports & leisure facilities including a golf course), 23 km from the starting point of the "Vélorail du Morvan" (a 22 km unusual ride through nature), 24 km from the renowned Lac des Settons (a supervised sandy beach, a water sports center & numerous aquatic activities), 28 km from Château-Chinon, 29 km from the famous Gallo-Roman archaeological site of Bibracte, awarded the prestigious "Grand Site de France" label, 41 km from the "Sept Menhirs d'Époigny" site (one of the most important megalithic sites in Burgundy), 43 km from the famous Paldenshangpa Buddhist temple, 45 km from Le Creusot (renowned Combes Leisure Park / Le Creusot TGV station 53 km) & 50 km from Saint-Léger-sur-Dheune (a river marina linked to the famous Canal du Centre, best explored on a relaxing boat trip). A delightful haven of charm and serenity, just steps from unspoiled nature, the perfect retreat for a timeless escape...
