Beautiful location and the hosts really thought of everything
Property is stunning- we saw beavers, eagles, deer, frogs, and marmots. Lots of space for the kids and adults to spread out and go on adventures. Cabin was very comfortable- the hosts really thought of every detail to make the stay extra special. We couldn't have asked for a better set up.
This property was beautiful!
The space was set up for so much entertainment. So many areas to enjoy. By far, best place we have rented by far. Thank you for sharing your home with ys!
What a wonderful vacation home! They truly thought of everything we could possibly want. You’ll never run out of things to do. The house was immaculate and beautiful. The river and wild life and acres of land is beyond amazing. We will happily stay again. Also the owners were responsive, kind, and just great people.
We have been visiting the Pend Oreille River for decades, to perform research work on managing Eurasian Milfoil (an invasive aquatic weed) with the US Army Corps of Engineers Aquatic Plant Program, and to duck hunt. We stayed across the river at the Outpost (no longer open) since 1988 to facilitate these visits. We found this property for our October visit and there were three of us. The home and location are beautiful, very well set up for the visit, very well organized for access, and we were thankful to find it.
We really enjoyed the spacious house for our family of six adults, three children under 7 and a baby. The house is clean and very well stocked. The views are incredible and the privacy is amazing. We brought our boat and easily launched it from the nearby ramp. The river was really quiet during the week and only got a bit busy on Saturday. The only downsides were the bees at the beach and the silty/seaweedy water right around the dock. We bought bee traps which helped and took the boat out a ways for swimming. We enjoyed our stay very much!
Our family stayed at the River House for the better part of a week and good have stayed on for many weeks thereafter.
The home is wonderfully built and kept, the property it sits on is beautiful and tranquil (while still teaming with wildlife), and the greater river area surrounding it is gorgeous.
On top of all that, Phil and Christine are excellent hosts in every way; prepping the house down to the smallest detail and being highly responsive at every step.
Can't recommend highly enough!
We are so happy with our experience. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and cared for. The owners are thoughtful and thorough. The decorating is exquisite, the bedding and blankets are cozy and there were plenty of beach towels for outdoor time. There were several warm and thoughtful touches throughout the home which made for a very special experience. Our kids are ages 6-10 and they enjoyed fishing from the dock (with lots of success which was very fun!), making s'mores, playing pool, boating and exploring the river, barbecuing, playing music and watching movies. However, I can't think of an age that wouldn't love this place. This home has everything you could ask for and more. It is the first VRBO we have stayed at where we all agreed that we want to come back next year!
We have stayed 2 yrs in a row. This home is perfect for our yearly girls trip! Its a beautiful home and property. If you forgot something, odds are they have it! We love this home and will be back again! Thank you Christine and Phil!
Our four night stay at this home was perfect! The hosts, Philip and Christine, think of the best details in making it a comfortable place to stay. Our family used all of the recreational activities: kid kayaks, adult kayaks, horseshoes, corn hole, and the fire pit for s’mores in the evenings. Our grandkids loved swimming from the beautiful boat dock. There are plenty of activities for kids inside the home, too. The kitchen is well stocked. We saw wildlife every day: eagles, beaver, and deer. We took gorgeous day trips to Sweet Creek Waterfall, Metaline Falls, Riverside Canyon Overlook, and South Skookum Lake. Our family will definitely return.
From the time we got there we forgot about work and life responsibilities ! The activities inside and out were abundant! There were things to do for the little ones as well as the adults. Multiple areas to sit and relax at. Not a single child was board and they were with out devices! Bathrooms and kitchen were stocked with necessities. Even fun extras like wine and s’mores. Hands down the best weekend getaway in a very very long time!!
Overall the property was AMAZING! Such a great get away from the city. The amount of things that are provided to do during your stay (house amenities, outdoor toys, spots to hangout etc) were underestimated on our part! Some things to note - the closest mainstream grocery is in Newport, if you are looking to ‘run’ while on vacay (the driveway to the main road and back is .6 miles), make sure you sit out and watch the stars (so beautiful!), there was a local herring and 2 bald eagles that flew over us the whole time while in the water! Though the river was low due to time of year we made the most of it and the house was awesome! The only constructive feedback was how well the AC worked - it was COLD. This in reality is a positive to know that the windows in the house and the AC operate effectively. Thank you for an amazing time!
This home surpassed our expectations! It was fully stocked with all of the necessities and very generous amenities. The hosts thought of everything!
The house is very clean and comfortable and the property is very well maintained.
The views are amazing!
There is plenty of space for all of us to enjoy inside and outside.
Very family friendly for all ages. There were literally games and toys for every age.
We drank our coffee at the seating area by the river, kayaked, watched the beautiful sunsets from the dock and made s’mores in the fire pit at night.
The daily deer and bald Eagle sightings were an added bonus!
It was a great relaxing stay and we will definitely come back again!
Great getaway with wonderful views, outdoor activities, and wildlife viewing
We had a fantastic stay in this lovely, well appointed home in a very private location. We have a multigenerational family of 11 and the space was perfect for our large crowd. Because of the size of the property, it is full of wildlife! We saw eagles (every day and all day long!) and other beautiful birds, beavers, deer, marmots, and lots of cute ground squirrels. There are so many activities provided —games, puzzles, movies for indoor fun, and outdoor games, canoes, kayaks, paddle boat (with life preservers) for outdoor fun. These guys are great hosts, too, as they left lots of goodies in the kitchen for us to enjoy, as well as special touches throughout the house. We will be back! Thanks for a great get-away!
This was one of the rental experiences we've ever had! Not only was this beautiful riverfront retreat perfect for getting away from it all, but Christine and Philip thought of everything! There were complimentary drinks and snacks to welcome you as well as toiletries and phone chargers in case you forget them (which we did). Want to get out on the river? They have boats you can use. Perhaps you'd like a closer view of the wildlife. They've got binoculars (three pairs). How about a relaxing campfire in the evening? They've got everything to build one, plus the ingredients to make s'mores! Got kids? There's games and books galore! I'm telling you, they really thought of everything, and the communication was excellent. Christine and Philip are awesome hosts! Book this place. You will not be disappointed!
