Warm and welcoming
Very friendly staff. Warm and welcoming people and building. Buffet breakfast tastes and plentiful. Stayed for a wedding in Glenridding. A very pleasant 15 minute walk.

Perfect mother daughter getaway place.
Its very beautiful location. From the reception to the restaurant staff are very friendly, attentive and accommodating. The breakfast was fantastic and we had dinner too. Our overall stay was superb for sure we will be back again in this hotel.

A charming Lake District hotel with good food and excellent service, with free parking. The bedrooms were on the small side and so was the bathroom. The wifi was poor in the bedroom.

The staff were very friendly and the service was very good. The evening meal and breakfast was very good. The hotel is ideally located for walking around Ullswater and Helvellyn.

Patterdale Hotel - what could be!
The location is great, amazing in fact. This hotel really could be something else and right up there with the best of them. However, The building is aging and in need of investment The staff are, by and large friendly but there are some members which have clearly lost their passion for the industry - slap dash service and dirty trainers. The food could be improved drastically - this is a restaurant not a fast food outlet. We have been twice now and both times we have had a three course meal in less than 25 minutes - cooked on mass with little love. This really could be elevated to the next level very quickly but unfortunately at the minute is more faulty towers than fine dining. Whilst I appreciate the value at £23 for the food, that is no excuse for the service level. Please do not think this review is spiteful in anyway, it really is meant with the best intention and to be constructive as this hotel really should be amazing. It is not all bad, the location, the garden area out front, the price point, and the beer - serves a right good pint of larger. The young lady on reception even remembered our previous trip (last year) which was nice. Just nip a few behaviours in the butt, up the appearance of one or two and really consider the restaurant - you have a right gem on your hands if considered correctly. Think about this, we left one night early simply because we couldn't face another round from the restaurant for our evening meal - we travelled 2.5hours home instead.

Really good value.
The hotel is really good value and the location is ideal for exploring the Ullswater area. The evening meal was really good value. The room was clean and comfortable.

They gave me room num 221 which was dampy. Asked to changed the room which was not done till next day. Because of the room I was ill for next 2 days. Was continuously sneezing. After requesting 4 time they changed the room.

Midweek holiday
We loved our time at the hotel. We stayed mid week for four nights. Plenty of beautiful walking routes from the hotel. We did not use the car at all. Our bed room was lovely. We were able to make our own warm drinks. The breakfast was a real treat. The three course meal on an evening was fabulous with plenty of choice. The kitchen was able to cater for my husband who eats gluten free. They produced a gluten free menu every day and there was plenty of choice. The staff are very welcoming and the hotel has a homely feel to it. Drinks from the bar on the evenings. We will definitely come back. We had an amazing time.

I had a 4 Night stay to do some walking. The hotel is perfectly situated. Really good value. The set evening dinner was really nice. Friendly efficient service. My room was warm, comfortable and clean throughout. I would highly recommend.

Great location for walks.

Ideal location for Helvellyn
We were there to walk Helvellyn and other surrounding areas. The hotel was perfectly located, friendly staff, great service and good food with all amenities in working and in clean order. Would recommend.

The Hotel’s location is unparalleled with an uninterrupted view across to Ullswater and Place Fell. Ideal location for walkers or people who just want a relaxing break. The Hotel’s decor is a little 1970’s but it’s biggest asset are it’s staff who were polite, helpful and professional. I ate once in the restaurant and the three course meal for £20ea was tasty and good value.

Last holiday before Lockdown
First stay at Patterdale Hotel loved it from the first moment we stepped into the entrance after sanitising hands from dispenser. Receptionist team all very friendly, room with lake view and hills. Comfy bed, quiet room so slept well. Bathroom with lovely toiletries, towels could have been fluffier. As room not being serviced so 'our safe haven' we had plenty of toilet rolls and tea/coffee to cover our trip. Ate in bar one night and restaurant on last night. All staff very prompt to attend and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for any of them. Holiday cut short by one day due to lockdown. Hotel laid on full Christmas Dinner complete with crackers, and individual presents from the resident Father Christmas - lovely!! Food was amazing and good portion sizes. Definitely be returning next year. Nice that they had bar and restaurant fully open with table service only but very prompt with orders. Hand sanitisers everywhere.

Great hotel for hikers
The views from the hotel room are amazing. It is located close to Ullswater lake and you can join many hiking routes straight from the hotel. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant is really good and portions are huge. My only (minor) complaints are that the mattress and pillows were a bit hard for my taste.

Enjoyable stay Ruth Thompson
Pam and I were on a walking weekend with Mark Reid’s walkers. The reception staff were smiley and helpful. The bar staff attentive and kind. We had a lovely meal on the Sunday night Roast beef and trimmings ( would have liked a few more potatoes and veg though). I would stay at The Patterdale hotel again.

Girls walking weekend
The staff at the Patterdale are absolutely superb, extremely polite, full of local knowledge and go that little bit further to make your stay the best. Food is excellent, amenities are excellent. Only slight downside is some of the hotel is a little dated in areas. This would not put me off going again at all.

Excellent hotel, ideal for walkers and tourists.
We were very pleased with the hotel, it exceeded our expectations; the only small negative comment we would make is the live music and singing event in the bar on Thursday evening would have been very enjoyable if it wasn't so loud. The decibel level, for us, was bordering on painful and totally killed any chance of conversation.

The veiw from our room was fantastic . Room itself disappointing could even follow peoples conversation in next rooms. Noisey with people at night returning to there rooms. Beds comfortable. Bathroom toilet seat kept slipping off toilet bowl had to hold on.( did report this on arrival but not fixed..Over all very clean. Restaurant very nice breakfasts but evening meal needs a lot of improvement.
