Alan was a terrific host. The owner was extremely accommodating of our elderly mum's needs, and everything was as we expected it to be. It's a beautiful property, in a fantastic location near the pub, a cafe and a riverside tearoom. Highly recommended. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Anthea E. 21 Aug 2023 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Very enjoyable property Nice property to stay in for a family. Nice instruction booklet with information as well as lits of leaflets for activities to do around local area. Unfortunately the pub next door had gardening at 8am with strimmers and lawnmowers going. Overall the area is beautiful and can be quite despite being next to the main road. We enjoyed our stay :) ##### Anthea E. The oast was very comfortable and well equipped. We had fantastic weather so were able to make great use of the outdoor space and BBQ and enjoy the views over the fields (though the oast also offered a large kitchen/diner and lounge area for less good weather). There are many nearby gardens, beaches, and other things to visit and we had a fantastic Indian takeaway from the restaurant a couple of minutes down the road - thanks for the recommendation Alan! ### 10/10 Excellent #### Michael Y. 26 Oct 2023 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### The Oast at Newenden The property was very well equipped and there is even an electric car charging point. The location is excellent with Hastings (fish market, beach and the old town); Battle Abbey (excellent and enjoyed by the smaller and larger people); Rye (one of the Cinque ports, Waterworks brewery); and the Kent and East Sussex Railway (to Bodium Castle). Alan, our host, was very helpful. Highly recommended! ##### Michael Y. Beautiful house and garden. We had great weather and spent most of the weekend sat outdoors looking at the wonderful views. Miscommunication between the agent, Bloom, and owner about our dogs coming which was a bit stressful on the first evening due to the tone of the email but all sorted the next day. ##### Alison G. This review is from a guest who booked and stayed through a partner site and can't be verified. ### 10/10 Excellent 17 Oct 2024 #### A perfect balance of comfort and historical interest We had an absolutely wonderful stay. The host is kind and attentive and made sure we had everything we needed; he also had excellent recommendations for things to do in the area. The oasthouse itself is a tasteful, comfortable conversion, which is cosy and delightful but keeps enough of the original fabric and equipment to be fascinating. Part of the building is a recently-built extension, but this is in perfect keeping with the original building. Moreover, it is superbly appointed, with plenty of everything you need for a comfortable stay. The surrounding village is utterly charming. We would love to return! ### 10/10 Excellent #### Leslie P. 7 Jul 2024 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Delightful short break Had a 2 night stay in this charming Oast house. Alan, the owner was there to greet us & was very accommodating. He gave us a tour of the property & showed us where everything was. As it was a rainy, chilly evening, he was kind enough to offer to light a fire for us, which we took him up on. The house was in a lovely setting with nice views of the countryside. It was cosy and comfortable and very clean with a well stocked kitchen, which had everything that we needed. It had a lovely relaxed feel to it with touches of old charm. We all loved it and didn't want to leave!. ##### Leslie P. Stayed 2 nights in Jul 2024 This review is from a guest who booked and stayed through a partner site and can't be verified. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Colin H. 15 May 2024 #### Fantastic place. A genuinely old & historic building, but clean, modern & comfortable inside. Wonderful outside areas. All essentials provided, but things like cleaning, washing up liquid, te/coffee/sugar there also. Location great. CAMRA gbg listed pub next door, cafe opposite, kebab van 2 mins walk. Boat hire 5 mins & steam train 10 min walk. Plenty of local paths. Owner there on arrival. Friendly and informative. Really didn’t want to leave ☹️. ##### Colin H. The Oast provided good accommodation for 8 people, has a good kitchen and is well stocked with plates, glasses etc for so many people+. Newenden is well located for exploring Kent and the many attractions around the area. ##### Verified traveller Stayed 6 nights in May 2023 ### 10/10 Excellent #### Ieneke V. 2 Sept 2023 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Big house JOY Big house JOY! There were eight of us (including a 7 and 3 year old) Beautiful home. Kitchen fairly well equipped - it’s an Induction hob so if you bring your own pans they will need to be induction ones. Alan the owner is such a lovely sweet man who was very helpful. We had full privacy of the beautiful house and gorgeous grounds and it was a wonderful family break.
