Like most, we've been quarantining for months because of the pandemic, and hadn't left our home except for store necessities since the early spring. Needless to say, we were ready for vacation!
The owners were incredibly communicative throughout the process, and gave us clear and concise instructions about check in, and what amenities were and were not included (to make sure we brought whatever we might need that they didn't have).
Check-in was seamless. The house was clean from top to bottom, and there was ample parking for three full-sized cars including coverage for any potential rains.
The house itself was exactly what we want in an OBX experience. Spacious, incredible natural light with windows throughout, plenty of bedrooms for all of us, and a top floor great room (open floor plan) that clearly had recently been updated.
We had fantastic views of the beach, particularly from the great room and the rooftop deck. And it was just a few steps aways from the beach, which made it easy to set up for the day and then come and go as we pleased.
Even though we were right next to the beach, we had a pool and hot tub, too, which was part of the daily routine!
Although we personally think any location in OBX is worth a visit, I know some are very particular about where they're located. We found the house's location in Corolla to be terrific. Groceries and other key stores are less than a mile away, and we never had to drive more than a few minutes to anything -- including mini-golf, the ABC store, groceries, Duck Donuts, ice cream, and souvenir shoppes.
Before I forget, another thing about the house everyone loves was how every floor had it's own huge decking and every bedroom on the second and third floor could be entered from an outside sliding door off a deck OR from inside the house. Very convenient depending on the weather and if you were coming in from the beach and didn't want to bring sand into the house.
The house was well-appointed, with cheerful photos and art on the walls, light paint colors, and a kick ass MASSIVE dining room table that had a laquered beach/surf mural. We'll never forget it, and being able to eat all together (we were 10 people but the table could handle 15-20 easily) was awesome.
There were no problems during our stay, but if there were I'm sure the owners would've been highly attentive as we had a few questions when we first got there and they texted or called us back immediately.
The perfect OBX spot.
