Explore Armagh with Expedia’s Travel Guides to find the best hotels, flights, holiday packages and more!
Armagh sits at the heart of County Armagh, a wonderful region of Northern Ireland to explore by car. The area is nicknamed Orchard County, thanks to the 35,000 tonnes of apples grown here annually, but you don't have to be a fruit fanatic to enjoy the rolling hills and shimmering lakes that dot this luscious landscape.
You can book your car rental with Expedia and pick your car up from the airport or a destination that is convenient to you. Armagh is a one-hour drive from both Belfast airports, via the M1 motorway and A3 dual carriageway, and is also only one hour and 32 minutes from Dublin Airport.
Armagh is the smallest city in Ireland, known for its two cathedrals and Georgian architecture. The "city of saints and scholars" can easily be explored on foot, but once you've picked up your rental car you'll be free to discover the rest of Northern Ireland, with no part of the country more than two hours from Armagh.
Lough Neagh, the largest lake in the UK and a famed fishing spot, has a visitor centre located just a 31-minute drive north from Armagh. To the southeast of the city, Northern Ireland's biggest mountain range, the Mournes, is an hour way by car. It includes the tallest peak in the country, Slieve Donard, a popular destination for hikers.
Further afield the incredible Giants Causeway , a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is 70 miles north and takes under two hours to reach and a lifetime to forget.
