Kadiss Hotel

8/10 Good

"Staff was awesome"

International Hotel Dakar

8/10 Good

"We had an amazing stay at this hotel from the moment that we arrived the staff went out of their way to find ways to help us to enjoy our stay and particularly Aliou and Babou (excuse the spelling). I would highly recommend this hotel for a short stay in Dakar, but for a longer stay e.g. 4 days+ our room was a bit tight for 3 people. Overall a great experience"

Hôtel Fleur de Lys Point E

8/10 Good

"Overall, Hôtel Fleur de Lys Point E made for a comfortable and pleasant stay, and I would recommend it, particularly for solo travelers. The neighborhood felt safe and navigable, which as a solo traveler matters more than anything else. The room was a highlight, super spacious, with a comfortable bed and a lovely view of the city from above. Waking up to that view every morning was a nice touch. The staff were friendly, helpful, and made the experience feel warm and welcoming throughout my stay. Breakfast was decent nothing extraordinary, but a perfectly fine way to start the day. It's also worth noting that there are several restaurants within walking distance, which is a convenient bonus. Now for the honest part: the location comes with some challenges. The area is heavily trafficked, and for reasons I still can't fully explain drivers have a genuinely difficult time finding the hotel. Whether you're arriving by taxi or rideshare, budget extra time and be prepared to guide your driver. The roads in the immediate area are also not the most pedestrian or driver friendly, so keep that in mind when planning your daily movements. With a little patience on the logistics, it's a comfortable and safe base for exploring Dakar. I'd recommend."

Hôtel BOMA

10/10 Excellent

"This hotel is spectacular in every way. It is an oasis in the middle of a busy area. I stayed in Bungalow 20. There ia a beautiful lush path to get to my room. There is a beautiful outdoor reception. Stunning pool, bar area and restaurant and I was told they just opened a new section of guest rooms ( not bungalows). My room is so well thought out. The attention to detail is magical. I only stayed 2 nights and wish I could have stayed longer. I am a business traveller and it feels so lovely to come back to this hotel after a full day of meetings. I had a delightful cocktail last night ( Botaniko) and great breakfast this morning. It is my 4 th trip to Dakar but my first stay at hotel BOMA. I hope to come back. Staff and service are impeccable."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Colobane?

The best area to stay in Colobane is generally around the Marché HLM or along the main transport routes, offering a balance of local experience and convenience.

The area surrounding Marché HLM is the heart of Colobane's commercial activity. This bustling market is a central point, with streets radiating outwards filled with local shops, eateries, and everyday life. It's an excellent spot for those who want to experience the local culture directly and have easy access to a variety of goods and services.

For travellers who appreciate convenience and easy access to other parts of Dakar, staying near the main roads like the VDN (Voie de Dégagement Nord) or the Route de Colobane is ideal. These areas offer straightforward connections to the city centre and other districts, making day trips and exploring Dakar much simpler.

When is the best time to go to Colobane?

The best time to go to Colobane is during the dry season, which runs from November to May.

During these months, you'll experience pleasant temperatures and minimal rainfall, making it ideal for exploring the city and its surroundings. The average daily temperature hovers around 25-30°C, with cooler evenings, great for enjoying outdoor activities without the intensity of the summer heat. This period also avoids the humid conditions of the rainy season, which can make sightseeing less comfortable.

For couples looking for a relaxed and comfortable trip, the months of December to February are particularly good. The weather is at its mildest, and the city isn't as crowded as during peak holiday periods. You can enjoy strolls through the markets or along the coast without the concern of sudden downpours.

Travellers interested in cultural experiences will find the dry season suitable for visiting local attractions and events. Many festivals and celebrations occur during this time, offering a deeper insight into the local way of life.
