If you were looking for old charm and a classic setting, this is the place to stay. No wifi or modern gym but a straight step into history. Food and staff amazing

The staff didn’t know about a particular document we asked to provide. The hotel is in a very nice and quiet area. Parking was reasonable and easy. Breakfast was fare. It’s an old fashioned Hotel. Overall it’s okay.

We had a great stay at the Palace! The room was enormous. However, there needs to be some updates. The physical key and print out paper receipts are a bit much, but didn’t matter too much. It was very clean and would stay again

If you like historic old buildings this one is beautiful. Staff very friendly and very good. Often went out of their way to accommodate you. Would stay again.

The staff was fantastic. Offered dinner suggestions and even gave us a wonderful anniversary fondue. It was very quiet when we were there, but I imagine it gets more lively during the summers. Great location and lovely grounds.

Fantastic hotel
Wonderful hotel, incredible pool, huge and usually empty. The hotel us surriunded by extensive fruit trees with animals for kids. Fantastic staff. Can't recommend enough.

Lovely hotel but somewhat dated. You can see that at one time this was a spectacular property. We were disappointed that the indoor pool and spa services weren't available. Otherwise we had a good visit.

Actually one of the most beautiful hotels I have stayed and I am a frequent traveler. The hotel itself, the surrounding, the walk in the park simply Amazing. Breakfast was very good as well.

Wonderful stay
Very nice stay, charmy hotel, beautiful landscape, quiet surrounded by nature but close to villages with all commodities. Good breakfast and Wonderful SPA!

The architecture of the palace is very beautiful. The breakfast was great! The furniture around the hotel in the common areas are beautiful and probably from the 1920s when the hotel was built. The room we had was small but it had 2 sinks and a nice bathtub/shower. The view of the inner courtyard could have been improved with flowers. You had to get there by car. The restaurants are limited in the area unless you have a car. There is a cafe and a Turismo (Tourist information) across the road. You can have supper at the hotel for 21 euros, or go to the neighboring hotel and eat there. It seems like a safe location, and you can walk around at night.

This is a very unique hotel tucked away in the central part of Portugal. The facility was the perfect location for us because we were attending a family event in the area. The location was also ideal if you are traveling between Porto, Coimbra, Anadia, or anywhere in the area. The hotel, pool, and grounds at the front of the hotel were beautiful. The staff was very friendly, helpful and there was always someone at the desk who spoke English. The room was adequately comfortable and we appreciated the air conditioning. The breakfast was especially appreciated and had many choices of foods and drinks available. We did not eat other meals at the hotel, but the dining room is available throughout the day. When we travel to see family in the future, we will stay here again. One disappointment was that the golf course is closed even though it is advertised and there are many signs in the area promoting the golf course. Maybe this closure is temporary as we did see that the course is being watered and somewhat maintained.

Outstanding in every way! Lovely trip back to an earlier more elegant time. Exquisite breakfast served in an opulent setting. Delightful common areas, helpful staff, spa and bikes. A wonderful experience. Also enjoyed dinner in the very elegant dining room.

This castle is so pretty from the outside, and so disappointing and badly managed on the inside. List of problems: bad room - we got two single beds when we ordered a double. View of concrete wall. No hot water. Bad water pressure. WiFi wasn’t working in our room. Bad smell in the room. Everything is very old and badly maintained. Bad “spa”. Jacuzzi is cold. Swimming pool is full of chlorine. Bad showers. It’s not really a spa. And again, everything is so old. Staff are trying to be helpful but it seems their hands are tied. The building is beautiful and has so much potential, that bad management is ruining. Bottom line - worst value for money in a long time.

Splendid palace, extensive grounds, old-world feel like out of the great Gatsby, but rooms are modern and comfortable. Delicious meals in hotel dining room. The helpful hotel staff directed us to a great vineyard for a tour and tasting, and also to a great little cafe for a light dinner. The grounds were spectacular with swans and lots of other wildlife. The swimming pool and golf course were not open when we visited in early October.

This was formally a Jesuit College that has been converted to a hotel. A lot of the orginal features are still intact like the lift, old telephones, takes one back to a particular era (museum hotel, one would refer to it as). The rooms have been upgraded and are quite a good size. Had dinner at the restaurant, which is still in character of the 1920's, quite a trip. The service was impecabble, unfortunately the food was not quite up to par. There is plenty of complimentary parking. Recommend a visit to the Bairrada wine shop, (10-15 minutes walk from the hotel). This was a train station that has been converted to a wine shop featuring locally sourced wines, fantastic wine tasting and staff. Enjoy your stay.

Go to this hotel!
Staying here was a lucky, last minute find and decision. There were very few guests, we were greeted beautifully, and the facility was historic and almost extravagant. The feel of a grand hotel from a bygone era- fabulous!
