This is a singularly perfect hotel, service, food, rooms, location are all exceptional. The staff are attentive with grace and warmth of a family château and I would highly recommend a stay here.

We stayed here for two nights, the room and bathroom were superb, facilities were excellent and just a short drive to Cognac. Very quiet at night, we enjoyed a very good nights sleep. Beautiful surroundings, well worth a visit. The owners were very helpful and friendly, helping with restaurant bookings and local information. Parking is available on site.

We were actually moved to the sister hotel St Gelais. Superb. Staff were wonderful too

Very welcoming. Lovely grounds and layout for the houses/rooms. We loved our little 2 bed. We walked 25 mins to the local supermarket and then had dinner outside in the garden whilst our little one slept upstairs. All round, it was perfect for what we needed.

Will return here some day. Not only very comfortable, but an exceptionally high level of decor which blended antiquity and modernity in a very tasteful manner. The remarkable breakfast provided by the delightful Anna was presented with some panache and a deserved level of pride. Allow time to find the location, especially if arriving in the dark!

A really pleasant stay. You can see the brand wants guests to be happy. Lots of little touches. Friendly, helpful staff. Beautiful historical walk into the small heart of the city. I actually think the location is perfect as it’s calmer.

Our stay at la Porte rouge was a dream. We got to stay in a room with garden view that was super quiet and night. The bath seemed freshly renovated and had everything one could wish for. Our hosts made us fantastic breakfast, and were always up for a talk and recommendations. The flair of the house is unbeatable. With the small garden and the old wooden floors it really feels like you are in a cozy home, the decor just rounds it perfectly. We would definitely recommend staying with them again,...
