The Rest Is History: A Whimsical Victorian Escape

"I cannot say just how impressed our group was with this property. First of all, the amenities were great. Having access to laundry and AC was crucial as we did a lot of swimming and we were there for a very hot stretch of the summer, so that was lovely. The rooms were excellent and comfortable. Everything was easy to use and find in the home. There was no need we had that wasn't already covered. On top of that, the place was just beautiful. The decorating touches and the historic details were impressive and really thoughtful. My husband's parents said over and over again how much they were pleased with the find. We all got a little obsessive over some of the little puzzles they had stashed around and that became competitive. My son, who was five, even got into a tic-tac-toe board and a few of the board games. I'd highly recommend this to anyone looking for a group hang in and around the Dells or Devil's Lake. We were so close to so many fun things to do, but when the heat kept us trapped in the house for one day during our stay, we still had a great time just hanging out together because there was a lot to do and we were all so comfortable there. We have rented a number of places together as a family and this was a real high point in our rental history."

"Unique and memorable place to stay. Owners are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Baraboo and the surrounding area. It's an old wooden house; the exterior is due for some attention and some doors stick, but otherwise it's comfortable and functional. Lovely interior construction and much original furniture. I hope to return."

"The home is clean and decorated very well. It is in a nice quiet neighborhood where walking your dog is safe and enjoyable. We loved the enclosed sunroom! The only issues we had were the size of the bathrooms, no ice machine and the beds having footboards. We were traveling with 2 men that are 6 foot 6 and this caused issues as the bedrooms upstairs were too short for them. The downstairs bathroom they could BARELY use the toilet as their knees were in the wall. There is also ZERO counter space to put anything in the bathrooms. Also not having an ice maker was a little inconvenient. We really enjoyed our time here but maybe need to add this house is for guests on the smaller side and not anyone over 6 foot."

"Home was very large and able to accomodate all our family. Great location for all attractions in both Baraboo as well as the dells. Only problem we had was air conditioning freezing up do to waiting on parts needed to repair system, The hosts were very much on top of communicating to us as soon as they detected a problem and dispatched repair guys to house both nights a problem came up. They even brought a brand new window air unit in for us and installed in upstairs window wich totaly made a difference for sleeping. They definatly went the extra step to ensure we were comfortable and I thank them for that. House was fully stocked with everything you would need for a stay so no need to bring much they had it all. Baraboo is a great little community with greats shops and an excellend ice cream shop (sweets on 3rd) that we visited 3 different nights. If you want to be close to the fun yet far enough away for peace and quiet this home is the place to be. Thanks Laura and Mark for sharing your home with us. much appreciated!"
